Allen wanting the fight to go into the 3rd is pretty much a given when you watch those first two moronic rounds and then see what he did straight afterwards. That part isn't really in question, it's how far you want to take the 'fix' or 'suspicious betting' accusations.

I think some of these undercard fights are barely more than pantomime to begin with. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a tacit agreement that it should go at least 3 rounds, because the alternative, another 10 minutes of Jonny Nelson, Carl Froch and Anna woolhouse filling time would BE EVEN WORSE than watching Allen Darch

I agree. So much “beef” pre fight is fake and orchestrated by the fighters as planned so it’s really not far fetched to think that fights can be spot fixed, especially when it is a mismatch and one fighter is guaranteed to win in any event.

I wonder how many fights in boxing are actually fixed in one way or another?
Some of them are blatantly obvious, as at least 2 of the Mickey Rourke fights, and the Freddie Flintoff debacle... but I wonder how many more?

It looks suspicious when Allen started doing his best Sugar Ray Leonard impersonation

Mayweather v McGregor - the PPV Exhibition Fight was probably the biggest con and poking for the PPV mugths.

Mayweather gave him the first 2 rounds, carried him for a few rounds then there was the planned late stoppage - both fighters pissing themselves laughing at the PPV mugths when they viewed their pile of PPV loot.

Lucky he is not from Sunderland as he would be announced as The Sunderland Sugar Ray

Journeymen box purely for money and money only. They box every week pretty much and are there to make someone look good.

If I was a journeyman boxing for money, getting paid £1k to box a 4-rounder against a far better boxer in a ****hole in the UK and some guy told me he could quadruple that purse if I got KO’d in the first round I’d drop to the floor in the first like a sack of ****.

Absolutely mate - those 2 puddings on Sat could make 10 times their purse on spot fixing

Not sure it would be construed as spot fixing .

You’d probably not get a price on the fight to be honest. How many proper journeymen fights are even acknowledged by the bookies?

Dave probably needed the money, all those young, handsome skinny boys he hangs around with are probably leeching his bank account

Fair point but it’s not just betting I’m talking about. If a prospect sparks out a durable journeyman who has a reputation for lasting the distance it will garner attention in boxing. There’s incentive to fix fights not only on the betting markets.

Just playing devil’s advocate and being pragmatic here about how easy and likely it is that match fixing and spot fixing exists in boxing, at all levels and with multiple parties involved (fighters, refs and judges can all fix outcomes).
