Dave Allen is one of those freakishly big lads who just had to eat a roast on a Sunday and have two bags of crisps for lunch at school rather than one and they'd end up bigger than all the other kids. Throw watching Rocky into the mix and you've created Dave Allen the boxer, the big lad who had a dream. Nothing wrong with having a dream but when the chicken fryer (not a racial slur, that was Lenroy's job) killed the dream of winning a belt the writing was on the wall. Somehow the dream was allowed to continue until David Price turned it into a nightmare and probably could have killed him if he wanted to. It has to be over now.
He is a natural heavyweight. If he literally starved himself for a month, he would still be over the heavyweight threshold, so it's funny that so many people call for him to go down to cruiserweight because he looks smaller. That's the whole point, though. The guys who look light, but are actually heavy, are the true big guys at the weight. Regardless, he always comes in unfit and he is a pudding who loves to look like a hero by taking blows. Price could have killed him in there, taking jab after jab and regularly being hit with the uppercut. He would probably have been safer in there with Wilder who would have sparked him out with a single punch.
As if he's ever going to do that. After the fight it always comes out he spent 2 days in the gym in the 8 weeks leading up to the fight and hasn't sparred for 3 months.
Very intelligent point, it seemed that Prices instructions for that fight weren't to try to blast him out and it was crazy how concussive his less strained punches were. Allen is a natural heavyweight also, completely agree.
Dave Allen's weight is all in his legs. They are like tree trunks. No chance of making cruiserweight.
Another dangerous because it's not realistic piece of MentaI Health advice, this time it's repeat offender, Dave Allen, with a humblebrag This content is protected
I don’t mind Dave Allen he seems a good lad. He’s no Henry Armstrong but he gives it a go, more than we do on boxing forums.
If he trained his backside off and just wasn’t good enough fair enough, it’s just the constant retiring/coming back out of retirement talk and the fact he’s been given so many opportunities way above his ability and attitude (headlining the O2 etc) but still goes on like boxing owes him something despite him being an idle so and so.
He's become a parody of himself at this point, and has been for a while. As soon as you said humblebrag I knew what was coming... Dave 'Property Investor, Buy-to-Let expert' Allen
I'd give it a go if I knew I could make what he could, at any other weight Allen would be absolutely screwed, he's lucky to be such a natural ogre. I still don't understand how his career ever took off, what had he ever done to be sharing a ring with Ortiz?
I feel like a lot of heavyweights are just there by default. The vast majority are out of shape and unskilled. Although I would be a heavyweight, I would much rather get in a ring with Dorian Darkfruits Darch than Carl Froch, Saul Alvarez, retired George Groves etc. In fact, I would rather get in with the likes of Dorian Darkfruits Darch over Manny Pacquiao and the like. These smaller guys would put more hurt on me than these crap heavyweights! Dave Allen is lucky that he is a natural heavyweight (although normally well out of shape and could come in around 220 if in very good shape) and has a very good chin.
