    Hammer beats another mid-level guy.

    God bless him.

Hammer was a junior champion, beat Price, he's a good fighter. But I'd say he falls into that zone where he's probably better than Allen but isn't a contender at the moment so doesn't offer much if Allen beats him. Wouldn't Allen be better off fighting guys below this he can beat, or guys higher up that he's a long shot to beat but might pull the upset? I wonder if they think Hammer is going to be over the hill like Browne. Not sure he is. Hearn doesn't care, of course, he ruined Allen by throwing him to the wolves early on while protecting Whyte and other pets until they 'developed'.

This just makes me laugh! Some posters only post to push an agenda. They have nothing to add to the discussion.

In which world do you live where Allen is a prospect with a potential to be something. His size, dedication and above all TALENT means that he would never have achieved anything more than British level fighter.

That he has gotten so much success (read MONEY) and notoriety is purely up to Hearn. Hearn saw something that resonated with the casuals and sold the heck out of it. Without Hearn, Allen would be a club fighter/journeyman or on the white collar circuit. Allen owes everything to Hearn as without him he would be another waster claiming that he could have achieved something.

In fact, it is annoying that Allen gets so much chances while others who have much more talent and could achieve much more with it don't get those chances because they don't have that "everyman" appeal.

You can blame Hearn for many things but NEVER for not doing right by Dave Allen.

Allen has skills without fundamentals. If you look at his training, you see that he does some interesting things. And his feet move really well for someone his size, and he is one nimble.
But it rarely ever comes together in actual fights. He has shown some glimpses of being a good boxer.

Matchroom has taken fantastic care of him.
Early on he got a big opportunity against Whyte.
After Ortiz he got a few easy fights and then a shot at the British title. Two shots actually.
Yoka was a money grab and I am not happy with that one, but Allen had a big opportunity there.

At this point it was all about money for Allen. He was getting paid and this is what he was after. If you listen to his interviews, you'd know that his was what he wanted. He wanted to make enough money to retire with something(he actually made enough to buy at least 1 apartment).

Next up was another money fight, and Allen smashed Nick Webb. But then things got serious and Matchroom got him the right fights to build him up.
He got a big fight with Browne and then another in Price.
Now he has yet another payday and opportunity ahead of him.

Dave Allen has made money and has been taken care of. He will likely retire a happy man.

Yeah, that's a better way of putting it. When he dropped Browne with that dip bodyshot that was a sweet move. And he can be kind of quick and explosive at times. But yes, he's completely lacking in fundamentals so there's no overarching plan when he steps in the ring. Just give it a go and see what happens. Seems like the story of his career.
