He's done a lot better than probably 95% who turn over from a financial stand point

Then he was offered £300k to box Dubois, but Hearn talked him out of it and promised him he would match the same purse for his next fight if he turned it down. He did that and then Hearn offered him a fraction of that straight afterwards for his next one. Silly boy.

The one thing I would say about that is Hearn claimed he did offer him that much next for a number of fights which he turned down as bigger than he wanted to take at that moment in time.

Either way he's stupid for not taking 300k.

Allen was a friggin' awesome fighter at one point, too. He could have probably beat Dubois. His knockout of Nick Webb was incredible. Unfortunately, the Browne and Darch bouts cast a bit of a black cloud over his career (there may be more, not sure).

Pre Saudi involvement it was pretty well known that unless boxing on PPV with them, Matchroom always paid less than their competitors. They pushed the ‘you’ve got to box on Sky Sports’ factor when they negotiated purses. They are Essseeexxxxxx accountants after all.

Not according to Ricky Burns they didn't. He was still working part time in a sports shop as a world champion under Warren.

Anyway you won't find me defending Eddie beyond saying Warren was objectively worse. His name used to be censored on these boards FFS. That's how bad he was.

I agree ref the late payment rumours, which were rank and blatantly true.

He’s hardly brain of Britain though is he, wouldn’t surprise me if he’s still working there every Saturday morning. He had Warren managing him too, he needed to learn how to negotiate for himself and get some commercial awareness. I agree 10k a fight for crappy WBO defences is awful.

Disrespectful comment (shock horror). Ricky is a great bloke and very intelligent.

He was shot to pieces under Hearn and still earned more in 3 fights than his entire career before that as a world champion under Warren.

That fish eyed crook got away with murder as a promoter with half his fighters suing him at some point or other. Matchroom would never have become what it did had FW promotions not been such a scummy outfit.

Do you know what defamation is? Quite incredible someone would write something like that on a boxing forum. Not cool.

    OK Frank.

Lots of his fighters did sue him. Name a big one and they probably sued him. He bullied this site into not allowing his name to be written because he was so slappy with his frivolous litigation to try to dodge criticism for his shady practices. So no defamation there and his purses for Burns are matter of public record.

The fish eyed creep no longer cares about that kind of thing though now he's rolling in Saudi oil money.

Ok thanks Alt. The very intelligent comment says to me that you probably aren’t the sharpest tool in the box yourself.

Agree with the above. Ref Burns though, MR didn’t look out for best interests initially when he clearly broke his contract with Warren to join them. I can imagine Hearn with his ‘don’t worry about it’ attitude, because he knew that Ricky wasn’t a huge draw and one of the main reasons they poached him was to **** off Warren.

IMO Hearn is and certainly has been in the last 15 years, a cheapskate with non PPV boxers. when he’s not bankrolled.
