In the bar till 2.30am the night before a fight is just incredibly naive & disrespectful to all those who believe in him, who have invested their time in him or bought tickets just to watch him. He should have been in bed, sleeping, or at least resting.
This is defo true. Loads of fighters eating clean all the time and training their bollocks off for years and this fat guy turns up with no pedigree and gets loads of opportunities and decent money. Just coz he chats shite on Twitter. Would **** me off aswell.
My guess is that his chin is his biggest strength, and his biggest weakness. He blocks shots with his head and is a tough tough man but wouldn't surprise me if he is having symptoms off the back of it. Sparring would be getting his head thumped daily for 8 weeks also. He seems like a nice fella but it's a dangerous sport - especially the heavyweight division. Can you imagine if Hearn had threw him in with Povetkin. I'd have seriously feared for his health. Sky and the public seem to have an affinity for him - time for him to find a new role on the commentary/presenting side
Yeah exactly. Imagine you’re someone like Hosea Burton who lives the life - a good fighter and relatively speaking better than Allen at his own weight pound for pound - issue is you can’t sell tickets so don’t get big fights. Must be so frustrating to see Allen be handed opportunities because Lad Bible types love his humour.
I don't want to see him presenting, that would be cringeworthy to sit through, he wouldn't be able to provide any decent insight, he'd just come out with absolute s**t and try and be funny. No.
Guys this is price who beat him not wilder. Since yoka he’s had a good run at this level. Price obviously not as bad as we thought. Allen should get into punditry. The public obviously like him and he loves the camera.
Against fundamentally flawed opponents though. Webb is barely domestic level, Browne is totally finished and was beating Allen, Bracamonte was a random foreign pudding they expected Allen to crush - he didn’t, got into a war with him. He’s just been very favourably matched in the last 12 months so they could milk him for all his commercial worth. Price is clearly levels above - Matchroom just hoodwinked loads of people into thinking he wasn’t.
George Foreman and Ray Leonard. Here Jim Watt and Jason McClory. But there are few ex-boxers that are good at punditry.
