Just said he’s been getting headaches “and a few other things” that need to be sorted out. He needs a proper brain scan.
He does follow the scene and is quite knowledgeable based on his twitter posts but I’m just totally adverse to pity jobs.
Yes. He’s a danger to himself. He needs strong people who care about him to explain to him what quality of life is and life in general for that matter.
Do people mean he was in the bar drinking or just still up and around at that time? Surely not drinking? He was inside and in range of price loads of times last night but never really let anything serious go at all. Strange. He seems pretty down and not well in the latest videos. Hope he's ok. Fair play to him his personality has got him some decent money in a dangerous sport and respect to him for getting in with Ortiz, Whyte and Price when he's clearly a limited boxer
I agree, there is no accountability. Promoters can do what they like but the commissions still sanction the fights because they want to be paid too. I would take Crolla off that list though, it was a genuinely great opportunity, he was the bigger guy and Loma is not a big puncher. He has 10/13 KOs but 4 of those are by no mas.
One can only assume Allen has been battered in sparring over the years. His durability makes him the perfect sparring partner and he's tough enough to hang in there with anyone. Last night being the perfect example of that; he allowed Price to put in his best performance in years and headgear would've helped Allen see out the 12. Allen has sparred a lot of excellent heavyweights, using his head for defence. We probably have no idea the amount of hits he's suffered.
He wasn’t drinking. In hindsight it didn’t seem too wrong, he was just up late having tea with his team. Personally not how I would prepare for a fight but I’m not a pro boxer.
I don’t believe he drinks, mate. I think he was just in there yapping to fans. Price didn’t let him work last night. Allen has one money shot which is the overhand right. Price’s jab was in his face constantly and wouldn’t allow him to set it up. When he did get in on the inside, Price guarded himself well and didn’t allow Allen the leverage to get a decent shot off. Plus, Price is better on the inside anyway. I agree, respect to him for getting in the ring with that caliber of fighter but facts are, Hearn took advantage of his ability to sell tickets and neglected his fighters health imo.
I think he's concussed from the fight, so I hope he made it sound worse than it is. I think he really should hang them up, he's had a punishing career, and he's unlikely to get much more opportunities as he got on his good run. Calling him a conman is absurdity, he got an opportunity to get in a better place financially, and took a lot of punishment to make it happen. He obviously just doesn't have the talent to go that far, and depression makes getting out of bed hard, let alone living like an athlete. People without experience of it are often far too quick to dismiss it. Plus he's way too tough for his own good.
I like Dave but I don't ever want to see him boxing again. He may fall short of the plan to get 3 or 4 properties or however many it was, but he can't take anymore of those beatings. It's awful.
