Another Ingle bum that couldn't fight to save his life https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/23870
Right up there with the all time greats and certainly would have given Prince Patel a run for his PPV loot.
Haven’t got a clue but I’m sure he’d be at one of them weights were you see the little Japanese fella defending his belt for the 3rd time in his 7th fight as the pool of men that small is so shallow. I never used to mind Coldwell but now he seems to like blaming anyone but himself and seems arrogant.
Yep, I agree with that. I've never once heard him take any responsibility for a loss from one his fighters. He just goes on the offensive straight away blaming anything that's not him.
I'm sure I read an article with Coldwell years ago saying he had like 17 amateur fights, won about 6 of them. He wasn't successful but at least he has been in the ring and fought, tried and tested. He obviously ain't a bad coach otherwise he wouldn't be where he is today. That said, like many I have gone off him the last few years.
Apparently just like Naz he had an interesting and unique entrance to the ring. Used to just walk under the bottom rope.
He probably doesn't think it is his fault. If he has set up a game plan and they have done there own thing, he can't do much about it. The other 1 if the other guy is better in every department he can't do much either. The problem is if you don't learn or shoulder any of the blame then as a coach you can't really improve. What annoys me is McDonnell going to Japan and knowing he was only going for a pay cheque. I could go on but I don't mind him. He did excellent work with bellew and should be proud of that.
The best fighter he produced from scratch is Jerome Wilson. Wilson's autobiography doesn't paint a good picture at all. In fact David Penfold is so low he could walk under a privet hedge with a top hat on.
