actually a quite good performance in the Katsidis-Mitchell fight.:good Didn't show any dodgy favouring and stopped the fight at just the right time. Well done. Have a lollipop.
What? He did show dodgy favouring when he got in the way of Katsidis twice when the latter was pressing the action, and when he let Mitchell have a breather twice, after he split the two fighters. I thought the stoppage was excellent, though. Parris isn't stupid. He's just corrupt as hell.
I actually for a split sec thought, of **** people gonna say its premature, though i didnt think so. Well timed. Great post fight interview from Mitchell after, top lad indeed. :good
I was ready to kick the boot in tonight but...I agree, thought he got it right. That was the second time Mitchell was out on his feet in the same round and he was about to get pummelled to the canvas.
He's not a bad ref as they go but jsut dont give him a scorecard if he had been a judge i still think if Mitchell had been knocked clean out he would have been in with a shout of winning
He was subtle about it, but at the margin, that's the kind of **** that makes a difference. If he had thought Mitchell could have won it, he'd have pulled every trick in the book to give him every possible advantage... but the writing on the wall was all to clear to ignore and he did the right thing. Dave Parris is an intelligent guy who knows boxing very well. That was never in doubt. So I don't think we need to praise him for timing a stoppage well. The trouble with him is that he is corrupt, and it's just not true that he was completely fair and square tonight either! A leopard doesn't change his spots... Parris is not a good guy just because he stopped a fight at the right time.
I'm just yanking your chain. I was up on my feet when he split them in the middle of an exchange, when Katsidis was flies-on-**** with Mitchell, shouting "What the **** are you doing, you fat twat!" (I knocked over my tin of beer:twisted. But for Parris, I thought it was a quite a good reffing display overall.
I would go further and say that Parris has the intelligence, knowledge, talent and presence of spirit to be a top world-class referee if he wanted to be... but he doesn't, because he prefers getting fat checks from corrupt promoters all the time. :-(
