Reffing Hatton-Zoo he let a fight be a fight and didn't get too much wrong. If he'd have clamped down on Zoo earlier you'd be moaning about him favouring Hatton and stopping Zoo working. He can't win in that situation and shows why they shouldn't have British refs in fights involving British fighters.
I agree but this is boxing not a street fight! I wouldn't moan about that though as I believe it should not be allowed under any circumstances. But your right about that refs should always be neutral, Vann, Parris etc got so many world title gigs it was insane!:nut
C'mon mate, Hatton-Zoo wasn't a "street fight", it was just a tough fight for a world title. Thats what boxings about at the top level.
No wonder the git can retire, corrupt ******* has been taking bungs all over the shop. The SAS should raid his house.
It was a good fight don't get me wrong, but being punched in the bollocks is not nice! Golota made it an art form ha ha!

I havent read all the other posts but almost everytime i have seen this ref live he should of stopped the fighst much sooner... The fights that i was at that come to mind are harrion v mcculoch, and Aurthur v Gomez. I know some folk (especially Britain) would like to see a fight go as long as possible but ithought those fights were quite sickening. But to be fair there has been plenty of fights that i have watched when he was ref and i havent noticed him, so fair play big guy and hope you enjoy youre retierment.
The fact Zoo was so gracious in defeat, shows it wasn't half as bad as some of Hattons haters make out.
Im sorry but this is nonsense. Yes its a fight, but its also a 'fight' with rules, namrely boxing rules. He was pretty much content to let Hatton do whatever he wanted, Hatton came out with numerous rabbit punches and at best Parris might offer an obligitory tap of his own head to show he'd saw it, I dont remember him once giving Hatton a a proper warning for his antics.
Live in Aus but watch as much British boxing as possible. Have to be honest, Dave Parris wasn't my favourite brit ref. Seemed harsh at times and at other times let things go way too far. How would you guys rate your Refs ?
No need to apologise. I don't remember Zoo getting a warning either. It was a rough fight, Parris could have penalized both men, and possibly ended up with a DQ on his hands, or let them get on with it. Other than the tit for tat low blows there were no major fouls in that fight. No one was thumbed in the eye, hit while they were down etc. it was just fight fought on the inside with both men wanting to be the aggressor. Of course it wasn't going to be pretty. The day that fight gets judged on here by the same standards that 100s of fights every year get judged is the day I'll concede you may have a point about the fouls. Until then that fight is just one of many rough, tough world title fights in a rough, tough sport.
