...and I wasn't claiming Joyce is dirty, for the record. Just that Bačurin had a legitimate gripe, against the ref. You shouldn't give a 10-count when somebody goes down 100% as the result of fouls with zero clean punches contributing.

They were rabbit punches - incidental ones and not entirely Juggernaut's fault but rabbit punches nonetheless.

 

You really think Bačurin mightn't be too dangerous for Haye at this point?

Everybody is missing the point here.

Joyce landed some accidental fouls, and the ref screwed up in applying his count as though it were a legit KD instead of (more appropriately) giving Bačurin recovery time - and Bačurin did knowingly sort of feebly argue his way into, effectively, a quit job. None of that really matters as far as parsing out how this fight ended, however. The penultimate right hand of Joyce hurt Bačurin very badly - the clubbing one from long range. That was the finisher. The follow-up (partially blocked) straight right hand and the sweeping rabbit-punch three-piece were but garnish; they didn't affect the outcome in the slightest. That single right hand set the wheels in motion and caused the rest of the concluding sequence to fall into place like dominoes (causing Bačurin to seek out shelter on the ropes and plop straight down when Joyce advanced, which in turn meant that Joyce was presented the back of the neck, which in turn led Bačurin to go down when he got hit in that non-legal scoring area, which in turn caused the miscue on the ref's part, which in turn caused a hurt & frustrated Bačurin to just bottle it)

 

Guess my services are obsolete - just as modern nutritional & training advancements have made our athletes superior to all the clumsy oafs from past era, so too has the pithy efficiency of new school RBR posters effaced the need for dinosaurs such as I.

 

Eh. The reliance on his physical gifts and lack of clever ring craft on display (whilst, however, bearing in mind the no-mark late sub) are valid points, but I'd rein up short of saying his being 32yo means sweet fuck all. Luis Ortiz is like twice as old and was a solid crack or two on his opponent's chin away from grabbing himself the HW green belt this Spring..
