after watching Canelo vs Trout I watched the Davey Moore vs Roberto Duran fight. I couldn't understand how a young 21 yr old professional fighter could appear to be as winded as Canelo after the knockdown of Trout.

I wanted to see a similar Junior- middleweight from the past. Davey Moore and Trout are both about the same height and Duran is about the same height as Canelo.

There are differences however, same day weigh ins prevented both Duran and Moore from gaining 15 to 20 pounds. Trout is a left handed jabber and Moore was an orthodox power puncher. Canelo has nowhere near the experience at this stage of a Duran, styles make fights and its unfair to Canelo to compare him to a top 10 ATG.

Yet,' I was astonished by Duran's stamina and work-rate, and how he was able to destroy a bigger stronger younger guy than himself, who possessed great power. Duran fought constantly, displaying tremendous stamina. Duran was 32 and past it at that time, yet there he was nonstop taking it to Moore. I was comparing the stamina and workrate of a past it, all time great vs a 21 yr old and came out wondering

who was better Moore of the Duran fight? or the Trout of the Canelo fight? and have become convinced that Canelo has very bad stamina and work rate issues that will cause him to fold the minute someone with defense or a chin takes it to him nonstop.
    what do you guys think?

Canelo isn't the same height as Duran. Duran's about 5'7" and Canelo's about 5'9", but that aside you were watching a fired up Duran that night and when he's in that mode, he's truly an artist in the ring.

Only negative part of that fight was it should have been stopped a round earlier, as it's lucky Moore didn't suffer any permanent damage.

As for destroying a younger, stronger, bigger fighter with more power, he did pretty much the same thing against Barkley, 6 years later.

I can't remember who it was, but I believe some boxing sage once said if boxing matches were fought in phone booths Duran would be Heavyweight champion of the world.

In the right frame of mind he was awesome.

I think Trout is a better skilled boxer. Duran/Moore was a blood bath! Alvarez has stamina. He won't have a stamina problem in the Void fight, don't know about skills though, we will have to wait until fight night.

Nacho Beristain said that Alvarez/Void is a 50/50 fight!

Highly over stated and not an actual fact. They confuse coasting with stamina in that fight. If you recall, the fight was on the "open" scoring system and Canelo was well aware he was miles ahead going into the final 3 rounds. He merely did the smart thing and coasted to the finish line.
