Using his boxing ability and power, could Davey keep John at bay and win a lopsided decision?

I don't think so. Sooner or later, & I believe it would be sooner, Mugabi, who had very long arms for a JMW, would catch Moore. As soon as Davey would show signs of being hurt, it would be all over. Mugabi was a great finisher.

I'm just reading a book on the late trainer George Francis who trained Mugabi. Mugabi had a lot of talent, but lacked discipline. I honestly feel John should/could have achieved more than he did in boxing.

I'd take Mugabi as well by KO.

I wouldn't doubt that Moore might actually get to Mugabi early. Moore took a very solid punch and lesser fighters had Mugabi in trouble at 154.
