Hes definatley doing the right thing. The realisation that the punches are now starting to hurt tells me the focus of his desire are starting to shift somewhat It's not the dog in the fight, it's the fight in the dog and all that. The dog needs to want to be in the fight
I think the way he lost to Yoka probably made it pretty clear to him what level he is at. He was getting hit and outboxed just as easily as the other journeymen Yoka' faced. the only thing that separated him was his physical toughness.
I think he meant a rest, rather than retirement. Fighting just once a week is a rest for the White Rhino.
Not the worst line of thinking there. Physical pain to the head makes you stupid and its best to get out before you get hurt. Compare this guy's line of thinking with Danny Williams.
It's a shame guys with his attitude rarely reach the top. Get the feeling he'd be willing to fight Joshua/Fury/Wilder in one night if he could.
It was clear to me that he needed to retire in the Luis Ortiz fight. In the 6th round if he had been able to put his foot on the accelerator he would have gotten Ortiz out of there. Think the fight with Body Snatcher Whyte took too much out of him
But he fought like 2 weeks after this tweet, and has another fight scheduled for October Is he planning on retiring after his October fight?
