We're going to finally get a glimpse to start making an evaluation of him today. Not that Navarro is a huge leap up in class or worthy of this being an interim world title bout (which it unfortunately is) or anything, but I think for most this will be the first time seeing Avanesyan live in action since his name began circulating forums due to his sparring legend status (reportedly dominated Chris Eubank Jr. last year, to such an extent that Eubank's team sought to suppress video of it and discredit anyone mentioning the sessions)

This is for the interim WBA bantamweight title (regular champ is Jamie McDonnell)

This is a solid card, actually. Nice 118lb clash in progress, with Youri Kalenga vs. Roberto Bolonti to follow along with Provodnikov vs. undefeated Rodríguez and David Avanesyan's presumed coming-out party in the main event.

By the way, assuming Provodnikov gets past Rodríguez he is slotted to meet Shane Mosley in early 2016. All but official, apparently... probably going to be pen on paper ASAP if Provodnikov doesn't lose today.

Write the name of every division in boxing on a wall and throw a dart at it, you are likely to hit one that has three WBA "champs". :!:

For anyone just tuning in, you've only missed a single bout on the card so far.

Jun Qiu Xiao (widely considered top five p5p in China, for whatever that's worth...with some, like BoxRec, putting him as high as #1, above the likes of Ik Yang and Zou Shiming) knocked out Amor Belahdj Ali to defend his WBC super bantamweight silver title and claim the vacant WBA international title.

Parejo vs. Zhakayinov is a pretty neat display of technical boxing, if a little samey round to round.

Both men enter with just a single professional defeat, with Parejo on a 3½ year unblemished streak and Zhakayinov flawless since 2008!
