    Peterson landing some jabs and controlling range. Ah I'm reminded that Avanesyan is economical with his punches (to a fault). Avaneysan didn't land much of anything.

    Avanesyan is creeping in, trying a wavy left jab up top or a quick dash-in 1-2, but Peterson is able to coast clockwise comfortably, popping a sharp single counter jab from a side-on angle. Avanesyan is following Peterson around the ring while the American is content to sidestep, cut the corners, and work the jab with his accuracy despite Avanesyan keeping up a high guard on the way in.

    I'll admit I don't follow women's boxing TOO in depth but Melinda Lazar and Kelly Morgan hardly strike me as bad asses... though she has mixed in good company against Lauren, Lopes, Adler and Zatkyo

    Avanesyan is trying for some first blood, assuming crab orientation and sliding toward Peterson, leading with the jab and quickly pulling up the drawbridge to defend against counters. Peterson is turning him and snapping the jab, now starting to come forward a bit when Avanesyan becomes flat-footed taking his turn on guard. Peterson coming in low with some rising combos, hooking at the champion from body up to head while Avanesyan responds by turning southpaw and floating some right jabs while drifting away on a diagonal.

    Peterson's finding his timing now. Took two rounds after his layoff. But he looks fast and sprightly. I see every round getting easier for him.

    Peterson scoring with some snappy jabs. Some body work by Avanesyan. Nice body head combo by Peterson. Better activity for Avanesyan but not enough.

    1-1 Avenesian landed some good body shots. Peterson stood his ground and didn't box as much, providing an easier target.
