Lot of close rounds, tough to differentiate a clear victor in many of them.

Watched start to finish, didn't keep track of my score every round but I think 96-94 Broner or 95-95 even is what I would've had. Shoot, maybe I'd have gone 10-10 in one of them and had it 96-95 either way.

If Broner isn't going to fight a legit opponent/champion up next, I'd like a rematch.

Going into the card, I thought Broner and Lamont were clear favorites and going into it, I felt I'd like to see Lamont vs. Garcia/Thurman winner and Broner vs. Garcia/Thurman loser. Still feel good about that. Hope it happens.

Mauro Ranallo was like, "BACK BODY DROP BY PETERSON! That will jack the back and reailign the spine of Avenesyan!"

Imagine if the ropes were that slack for a James Degale fight? Giving his tendency to lie back on the ropes, he would probably fall out of the ring and land on his head, ala Nard Hops.

If Broner's really serious about taking his career seriously, he needs to get himself back down to 140, pronto. That way, Bud and Mikey can give him a good working over.

broner holding pushing off , face lacing with gloves, forearm to face, and ref never said a word . still a good close fight. I had granados but oh well its boxing politics.

peterson and broner wont do well against big welterweights.

Lamont is competitive with both, Adrien gets stomped by either.

So nobody wants to answer for the Williams KO Browne picks?

I'm not putting anybody on blast for it, just curious what the reasoning was, guys.

Needless to say I don't follow the sport all that closely anymore but as of when I did, both were middling domestic prospects unlikely to ever wear championship gold and if you asked me for a h2h pick a year or two ago I would've said "Browne KO, but he ain't great".

I had Browne by TKO, but I could see it happen.
Of course Williams wasn't all that, but Browne really got exposed in his last fight, and only kept his undefeated status due to the usual US home cooking. Damn, if that sh_t had happened in Germany and Browne as the German fighter the forum here had blown up.
That said, Kalajdzic clearly is a level above Williams of course.

I'm just really confused. You have two mediocre one-gear boxer-puncher lefties of similar dimensions (nearly all physical edges to Browne...longer, taller, stouter...Williams is maybe a bit faster), both products of the US amateur program with all the good and bad that goes with that...all things being equal how do you not favor the guy whose chin and heart are yet to be exposed as lacking? And who seems to be the harder puncher to boot?

Were people really that down on Browne due to one bad night at the office? Not like Williams hasn't been hot and cold his entire career..

Or were people just taking Atlas' word that Williams had tons of latent potential?

I've considered the kid a flop since he fought Campillo and wasn't exactly high on him even before that.

That's why I went with Browne, also because he survived against Kalajdzic while Williams didn't in his losing effords.
But don't forget that Williams had been in with better competition as Browne had thus far (maybe not if Kalajdzic turns out to be the real deal).

It was sort of an emotional pick I think. Williams gained the favour of hardcores with his showings against E-Rod and the Pimp and people were really down on Browne with his ugly performance against Hot Rod, which didn't look all that bad after Radivoje's dismantling of Peterkin.

Williams wasn't a true southpaw. That's why he looked so terrible against a true southpaw. He's a bum now. I'd pick Browne to ko Beterbiev and I like Beterbiev. He wants Stevenson and that would be a tough tough fight. Browne needs one more top contender and he will be ready for a title shot. If he gets Stevenson I'm not mad at him. I'd take that fight...
