    Let's talk about it

Calzaghe has no power to keep Benavidez off if him

Only a matter of time before Benavidez walks him down and gets him out of there

And before you say that Benavidez wouldn't be able to hurt Calzaghe keep in mind that this is a guy who got dropped by Bernard Hopkins and a shot Roy Jones

Benavidez would batter him imo. Calzaghes best attributes were speed and volume and Benavidez could match him in those areas but with more power and size. Benavidez TKO. David deserved to be undisputed at 168 to cement his legacy but was robbed, I will never forgive Canelo for that.

Man, that's just disrespectful. Calzaghe wins. Too fast.

No chance. Calzaghe would have walked him...

So far Benavidez' best wins are shot Gvozdyk, Plant and Andrade. That's respectable, but far from great. Benavidez looked very beatable vs Gvozdyk and vs Gavril I where he was dropped and got a gift decision

To the little ceramic bowl where all the cocaine is being hidden? Yes, I suppose he does. But not by much. Joe had a nose to find it too.

Is there any point in even replying to this

Surely even David Benavidez himself would admit Calzaghe would have have boxed his head off:D

There's a big difference between a great fighter and just a standard good fighter.

Both fan bases can be a bit fickle, so I'll need to tread carefully if i don't wish to induce a riot.

David is very much an unfinished product at LHW. To date, he's been somewhat underwhelming at the weight, most notably his power and stamina, but that could be a function of his body adapting to the new division (and increased size of his opponents). It could also be that he doesn't enjoy the same kinds of physical advantages he enjoyed over opponents at 168.

As for Calz, I never elevated him to the same exalted status as many flag-waving Brits, but he was undoubtedly an excellent fighter and a worthy HOFer. He was fast, crafty, tougher than he's given credit for, and had a great motor.

If this is the best 175lbs Benavidez gets, I like Calz by decision.

A fast but certainly less clever and active Plant had considerable success in the first half of his fight with Benavidez; I don't see why Calz's speed, craft and volume wouldn't have been similalry effective and for longer stretches against a thus far less physically menacing 175 Benavidez.

I mean Gavril hurt Benevidez and he aint no puncher.

People keep talking about Beneveidez workrate like he invented that. Don't forget Calzaghe had a very high workrate also and he liked to get inside.

    Calzaghe decision

To be fair, I'm still not convinced Benavidez ever beats Canelo. Benavidez just isnt that good. The crazy part is that David would still not be a prohibitive favorite over a very clearly over the hill Canelo who failed to slightly discourage journeyman Berlanga, went to absolute war w journeyman Ryder, and had a close but clear win over fringe champion Munguia...all after being dog-walked by Bivol. Benavidez might not beat THAT Canelo?!? No clue why some people lap up all the PBC propaganda...like children in a candy store. All they see are sweet banana candies they wanna suck on and lose the ability to rationally think about anything

Not sure why you are talking about 175 when Joe was a 168 fighter apart from his last 2 fights vs men past their prime. I assumed this match up was at 168.
