These two have fanbases? lol. I think Super Joe gets the better of him to be quite honest using superior angles and footwork to get Benavidez on points by taking over the fight late.

Possibly. Joe would be looking at a guy who throws as fast and as often as he does. And harder. Can do it for 12 as well. Don’t know how well Joe would handle all that.

    Benavidez was ducked by Canelo

This isnt a resume comparison it's a head to head fight

If you want to talk about weak resumes Joe Calzaghes is pretty weak considering how long he stayed at 168 for

Benny destroys him at either weight but at 175 Calzaghe has a better chance cause Benavidez has some stamina issues

These same kinds of people used to hate on Calzaghe too when he was fighting I've seen the old threads.

In 2037 Benavidez will be viewed as this monster who was untouchable on this site

    Certainly possible.

As to the fanbase question, are you new here??

The Calzaghe clique here is probably fundraising as we speak (or in this case type) to have their man-crush enshrined in marble.

So, to clarify, you didn’t even know the nationality of the fighter you’ve been badmouthing and saying would get beat up by Benavidez. And if he only faced top opposition later in his career, isn’t that to his credit that he was able to beat this top opposition even while past his prime?

That top competition was also past their prime for the most part

Jones undoubtedly was, but B-Hop still had a fair few miles left on his odometer and went on to score a handful of big wins after facing Calzaghe. Calzaghe's hands had practically turned to sand by that point in his career as well. Kessler, Bika, and Lacy were all in their primes though, while Calzaghe wasn't when he fought them. Eubank was definitely past it but still formidable, as he showed against Calzaghe himself.

The nuthugging of Joe Calzaghe among a not insignificant contingent of Brit posters has been a feature of this message board for as long as I've been here, my guy.

Again, I have nothing against Calz. Indeed, I think he was a fine fighter who I suspect would have outpointed Benavidez (just as active as DB but with better feet). I just don't treat the guy like the Prodigal Son.

Andrade was not a world class fighter at all and neither Plant.

I've watched Benavidez in a few fights and I think Calzaghe absolutely ruins him. Calzaghe's speed, angles and work rate are levels ahead of Benavidez. Calzaghe wouldn't gas out like Plant did.

I think Calzaghe hit harder than some give him credit for as well. Dropped a few tough fighters.
