David Benavidez is a 6'2 20 year old Super Middleweight with a 18-0 17 KO's record. Born in and fighting out of Phoenix, Arizona, USA. David is the much bigger but younger brother of top Light Welterweight prospect Jose Benavidez, he went pro in Mexico at age 16 because you're not allowed to start that young here, but the moment he could come here, he did and was quickly signed by super talent scout Sampson Lewkowicz who also discovered Pacquiao and Maravilla Martinez. He's been trained by his father Jose Benavidez Sr. since he was a child and has worked with Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym. He's already sparred with Pavlik, Golovkin, Julius Jackson and Ishida so he's been around some real talents. While its hard to get a real idea of how good this kid really is, due to the dreadful list opponents he's faced so far, but he past his real test with flying colors. He managed to stop Felipe Romero in Round 1 dropping him repeatedly. He did it quicker the Alex Leapai, Oleksandr Usyk, Glowacki and fellow wunderkind Dmitry Bivol. So this kids power is real, and his skills are quite good for someone at the tender age of 18. He's one to watch. So I'm Raising The Red Flag, You've Been Warned. The Mexecutioner Is Coming.:ggg:ggg:ggg:ggg

Im eager to see how far he can get, especially once he develops his strength over the next few years and grows into being a full fledged light heavy. He's a very promising prospect that will be entering a red hot division as he continues to step up.

:bart I'm reserving judgment until he does more than just thrash Romero.

A record padded enough that Romero is leagues above the rest of your wins is suspect indeed. :deal

I'm not ready to declare him the next big thing yet either, and Romero you could maybe say was still smarting from the beating Bivol gave him and didn't have time to adequately prepare, but it was relatively impressive nonetheless. He's definitely worth paying attention too, although he may end up looking less than stellar like Jose in the near future as well.

For a guy who is still only 18, he is impressive.

He says he'll be fighting at 168 for the time being.
    Worth keeping an eye on

Even though its a stacked division, I think he should fight at LHW, he seems to have the power to compete there. And he definitely has the size.
