Whats the point of being mandatory if someone can avoid them without any type of consequence? Fighters should be fined like 30% of their purses everytime they fight some thats not their mandatory.

That´s not how things work. The problem here is that the ****ing WBC won´t actually mandate the fight. They never even announced the purse bids despite Benavidez being the interim champion for 2 years.
It´s all just a money grab for them. They rather have both Canelo and Benavidez pay sanctioning fees than order the actual fight. They don´t care.

    Benavidez should have sued them.

Not even sure why he was even in the mix for an interim title fight vs that version of Gvozdyk who had only fought one opponent with a pulse in five years (and that was a Euro level guy) given how it was Benavidez's first fight at the weight

Actually, I think I know why. It was Clenelo's fairy godfather Mauricio's way of paying him back for keeping Clenelo protected from him. I see you Maurico. I see you.

This is what wanting to fight the best actually looks like. No point wasting your career waiting for a fight that is clearly never going to come.

If Beterbiev is still the same as he was before the injury and age hasn't declined him even more, and admittedly they are big ifs, he'll break Benavidez in half. Prime Beterbiev would no question but Beterbiev's age really works in Benavidez's favour.

Age aside, we haven't see a version of Beterbiev yet that doesn't KO Benavidez

Benavidez vs Bivol is more even but Bivol is a lot better than the still decent but well past his best version of Gvozdyk he fought so that's a real intriguing match up

I want to see Benavidez vs Morrell. That fight really intrigues me too. They should make that in the interim because Beterbiev and Bivol will likely have a rematch, assuming Morrell gets past Hot Rod that is and Hot Rod can crack and he has the height and range to compete with Morrell

Can't blame him. He has been vocal about wanting to fight Canelo. This is up to Canelo on who he fights. He choose Berlanga.

Canelo's ducking worked perfectly I guess.

Great news! I give Benavidez little chance against a Beterbiev that has anything left, the version who faced Smith breaks him down, but it would be a great fight regardless. I think he will be a challenge for Bivol, for sure,

Beterbiev would fold him in half

Benavidez doesn't have the firepower at 175lbs to deter Beterbiev

Benavidez loses badly to both. He doesn't have enough power at 175 and we don't know if his chin is sturdy enough to take solid LHW punches (not whatever that patty cake bull**** was from Gvozdyk). I can't see a Benavidez LHW campaign being very successful for very long.

I get your point, but sometimes you get champs that feast of of manditories that are not the best comp they could face. I believe it was Marquez/Vasquez that fought their rematch without a belt on the line because they wanted to fight eachother again. Marquez didn't want to fight his mandatory, so he got stripped.

I’m afraid we’ll witness a “weaker” battle between them due to injuries, inactivity, promoters, and etc.
