I've seen this bat**** crazy take more and more since the Dirrell win and I'm not entirely sure what it's rooted in. Some part of me thinks it's Canelo fanboys trying to hype up Plant and pulling for him to deal with Benavidez so Canelo won't have to. Then there's part of me that thinks people are looking at the win over Uzcategui where Plant badly faded down the stretch, as some kind of harbinger, well it isn't. Jose has always been fairly onenote and struggles against pretty much everyone who has a modicum of skill, I mean, Lionel Thompson beat him, which I predicted. Not because I thought Thompson is that good, but because Uzcategui is just that rudimentary. Regardless, Benavidez's style is nothing like the Ooze Cat's. I fret to even consider people being dumb enough to read anything into the lucky punch KO of Dirrell as anything but a sign of just how shot Anthony is, Plant's power isn't remotely impressive and certainly not great enough to badly hurt or dissuade David, who's taken shots from his fair share of big punchers. Regardless of what the motive is, you're all deluding yourselves. The combination punching and pressure from Benavidez is going to wreak absolute mayhem on every part of Plant body. This will be a one sided dismantling, even more impressive than Canelo's win over him. Which has zero bearing on how a Canelo vs. Benavidez match will play out.
