Here I will school you on this really quick since you dont know: Leonard was holding an event for CHARITY and of course because he was Ray Leonard that got everybodys attention and everyone wanted to attend. Including Hagler.
So this was never a press conference.
So of course Ray gives a speech about how a fight between himself and Hagler would be great..........but it isnt going to happen because he is going to retire. Of course you ignore the fact that Leonard had a detached retina and people were calling for him to retire at the time.
Did Leonard entice Hagler? Sure I think he did in a way but it wasnt like it was an actual press conference and Hagler was invited.

"Firstly I want to thank God. Because without him none of this is possible."

It is good that God has made it possible for you to "beat the ****ing living ****" out of "that *****."

Nobody cares though. You keep trying to make it seem like fighters of the past were not pulling silly stunts whether it was Leonard or Barrera.

Just stop. Leonard beat Hagler because Hagler soooo badly wanted to show Leonard what a boxer he was and fought the first FOUR rounds like an idiot. And Im a huge Hearns fan so Leonard was enemy number 1 at that time so I was rooting for Hagler.
And I remember watching this live in a crowd and people were like what the hell is Hagler doing during the first four rounds.

Show me where Barrera and Morales were "acting" and Leonard announcing his retirement is a silly stunt when he actually retired?

He would have been so much better off if he actually went after Plant instead of jumping up and acting like he was going to fight Plant right there and then.
Hes like those two guys that you see about to get into a fight and one really doesnt want to fight but puts on this show about how hes this or that and the whole time he does nothing but talk.

It's become readily apparent that you draw all kinds of inferences that bear no relation to the point I was attempting to make. Either that, or you have difficulty with basic comprehension.

Who said I was impressed with the Dirrell-Plant outcome? Indeed, I stated precisely the opposite.

    My point
--again, it should have been painfully obvious--was merely to illustrate that the bullsh*t fighters say or don't say prior to bouts is entirely immaterial to the outcome. Or maybe you're just impressed with the rah-rah, "I'll put you in the hospital stuff."

Lots of guys--including Dirrell, talked sh*t before a fight and ended up losing in humiliating fashion, illustrating that what is said before fighters get in the ring has no consequence on what happens in the ring. That some other fighters talked sh*t and won is irrelevant, unless you're suggesting that doing so somehow improved their in-ring performance.

    Which was....duh....my singular, self-explanatory point.

It's common sense that trash talking while promising to do something doesn't always equate to reality, end all.

So now watching a press conference before a fight is akin to following a fighter's beef? That's some elastic definition you've got there. Did you not read, or did you just conveniently ignore the part, where I state quite clearly that I have no idea why Dirrell and Plant dislike each other or how the dispute evolved? You see, that's something I would know if .....duh....I followed their beef. And has it occurred to you that I might have watched the presser hoping to hear from Breadman, one of the guys I respect the most in the fight game?

But hey, it's OK to be wrong.

Allow me spell it out for you one last time, since you're clearly experiencing some difficulties here: my singular contention on the Plant-Benavidez affair is that I don't believe Plant is afraid of Benavidez. Period. End of story. What did I base this admittedly zany notion on? Again, he signed a contract to fight him.

I took issue with your attempts to rationalize why Plant elected to fight Benavidez, which remain nothing more than your opinion. So, on the one hand, we have a signed contract; on the other, we have the opinion of an internet rando.

Whether it was an 80-72 or 79-73 fight is perhaps debatable. But what it sure as hell wasn't a "touch and go" affair as you incorrectly stated.

Thank you for sharing. And I mean that sincerely since I don't really do social media much any more and I certainly don't follow fighters.

Nevertheless, I'm not sure that's fundamentally more hard-hitting than saying "I'm gonna whoop his ass" with your opponent sitting right there.

You’re welcome. To me it’s not so much what he said but saying it after the fact. If he was quiet at the presser, he should have kept quiet after it.

That was Davids issue with him in general as he has mentioned it before where Plant is fine to his face but then jumps on social media & starts taking his shots,

There's even an interview when they bump into each other where they are all cordial with one another & then afterwards Plant was back at it again on Instagram calling Benavidez a drug user, etc

That with the fact that he is now spinning this new angle of him actually wanting the fight with Benavidez before but it's David's & his manager fault for why it didn't happen then when he said it's not the right time, Right!? & how long ago was that after he was done turning down the fight down numerous times over?

Trying to change history now as i have seen it with those kinds of fighters that avoid their opponent where eventually they speak so often in circles that they end up losing turn of they're original reasons & can't keep with with their lies.
