? Winner gets Canelo. Personally I don't care to see Canelo fight Lemieux. I would however love to see Lemieux and Benavidez slug it out.
I think this is an interesting fight because of the shear power involved and the fact that Davis was able to catch Benavidez flush more than once but simply didn't have the power to hurt him. I think it is likely that Benavidez beats the aging and limited Lemieux but Lemieux has an absolutely devastating left hook and Benavidez is no GGG. I think Benavidez stops him but Lemieux is dangerous. On another note, I think it is highly unlikely that Canelo ever fights at 168 again. After the Makabu fight, I could see him settling in at 175. The money is just not there with Benavidez or Lemieux. Makabu is about the title in a 5th weightclass but the real fight is Beterbiev at 175.
I remember when lemieux was an up-and-coming young puncher and went up against a veteran Mexican and now he is the veteran Canadian up against the Young up-and-coming puncher from Mexico My best larry merchant booze breath and alm
benavidez should try and get charlo or plant while waiting for his number to hit. i dont see bjs coming back for that type of smoke. it would solidify his claim to being canelos best challenge, and make him heir apparent, should canelo stay above 168.
Canelo can't excape Benavidez that easily because Benavidez would fallow him to light heavyweight no problem.
Canelo is interested in legacy and maximizing his dollar. I'm not sure Benavidez can offer either. Makabu is all about that 5th weightclass title. Benavidez does not have a belt at 175 and I doubt Canelo drops back down to 168 after fighting Makabu.
Let's hope so. Cause right now Benavidez brings nothing to the table, legacy-wise, other than being the opponent we all would like Canelo to face.
Benavidez isn't a champion. He isn't even a mandatory. Canelo can fight Makabu, Bivol, Beterbiev, Charlo, Ramirez and make more.
You may want to tune in the night of this fight, because it will happen. The meat of DB's career will be at LHW, he's young and basically a prospect right now despite also being a two time champion. If I were Canelo I would go after him now at 168 instead of waiting and getting hit by a more powerful version of his flurries, but I guess this is why I'm not a boxing manager.
