Way too early for Morrell to be taking this fight. It should have built up into a mega fight for 2024/2025.

Awesome fight, can’t wait for this. 2 young hungry undefeated lions. This isn’t going to be an easy fight for both of them.

Winner of this fight has to take on Canelo next.

So who does Benavides fight until that time? It’s the right time.

This is how you do it. **** marinating let’s take it to direct heat.

Canelo will face a lot of pressure to fight the winner.

Unfortunately..... Morrell will violently KO Benavidez, and ruin the Canelo fight. Ready or not, it's irrelevant, style wise, Morrell is what nightmares are made of for David.

@Serge are you feeling that too?

Honestly, I don't like the fight for Benavidez. Morrell is really talented and is very high risk low reward. Benavidez is really talented too and it's a fight he can also win but he's got more to lose and it's disgusting he's having to take this very dangerous high risk low reward fight instead of getting his rightful shot at Clenelo.

Stylistically Morrell will cause him a lot of problems, but if Benavidez gets his offence going with those fast accurate heavy shots of his I can see him hurting Morrell and potentially taking him out. But I can see Morrell doing the same to him just as easily though. My gut-feeling leans towards Morrell because of styles but it's not a fight I would bet a penny on.

I agree to an extent. David Benavidez is a very good with the potential to be great in my opinion. However he’s used to having a major size and strength advantage in all of his fights so far. This will be the first time where he’s matched up evenly in both and their reach is similar. This will be a tough fight for both guys but I’m leaning slightly towards Morrell.

I echo all of these sentiments almost to a T, somewhere Canelo is dancing an Irish jig when he heard this news. He's probably praying to every saint under the sun, and trying to scrounge up new ones, hoping Callum KO's Beterbiev, which is also a distinct possibility. To rid his plate of both potential future problems. Back to the fight itself, certainly if Benavidez gets into a groove he can potentially hurt and stop Morrell. But that'll be far easier said than done, because unlike Aidos Yerbossynuly who laid plenty of hands on Morrell, he won't be a fellow southpaw, so he can count that advantage out. Benavidez is going to have to consistently walk through hellfire and brimstone without taking too much damage in the process to get Morrell out of there, and unfortunately with a fighter as accurate as Morrell, I don't see that happening.

For sure. E-Hearn is praying and hoping that Smith beats Beterbiev too. He reeled off a list of potential opponents for Clenelo the other day and he wouldn't dare breath Benavidez's name. I've never heard him mention Morrell's in that regard either. Smith was one (if he can upset Beterbiev) and Berlangy was one of them too

My one reservation regarding Morrell is his ability to take it like he can dish it out. I haven't noticed any chin issues as of yet and he's not easy to catch clean, but that being said he hasn't passed the chin test yet and Benavidez has fast hands and when he's firing on all cylinders his offence is beastly so it's going to come down to whether he's able to do that against someone as skillful and tricky as Morrell

Why would he ever mention Callum Smith?:shakehead: Canelo already beat him decisively, sure maybe Callum was a bit drained and he's more dangerous at Light Heavyweight, but not dangerous enough to merit a rematch. Berlangy is a pustulating shitheap, unless they bring in hometown judges for every fight post-Quigley, there's not a chance he makes it to Canelo with his perfect record intact, and even then it might not save him, he's clearly chinny as hell. Quite frankly, Hearn is such a terrible matchmaker who clearly doesn't know **** about styles, everyone who's signed with him should be ****ing mortified.

Sadly for Benavidez whose power is a bit overrated, I don't think he possesses one punch pop, and Morrell while he hasn't been properly chin checked, it's been checked enough for me to believe it's roughly as good as Caleb Plant's.
