David Benavidez vs David Morrell is set for the Autumn

I like Benavidez in this fight better than some of y'all, but I agree it's a stylistic issue for him. Being at such a severe reach advantage hurts, because to extend his arms and get pull power he'll have to walk into dangerous territory before he can get set up.

 

Dude he looks really bad for this already is a crying shame imo.

 

Charlo or Canelo.

 

Benavidez's reach numbers are wrong imo. He clearly has really long arms yet they listed his reach the same as Plants. Early in his career his reach was listed at 78 inches.

Morrell is unknown other than looking good. No idea how he can take punches or if he has heart in him, so even if Benavidez smokes him it could be hard to judge it, so that is another reason I hate the fight.

He did not look that good vs Henderson as he was getting caught flush with some clean counter shots from a C grade fighter, so it could be a surprisingly easy fight for benavidez, although as it stands hes a tougher match up than Canelo imo

 

Why are fans cool with guys sitting around fighting bums begging for paydays let that man earn his shot in the ring and not just talk his way into one

 

How has Benavdiez earned a shot? The man ain’t beat nobody his best win is Caleb plant coming off getting KO’d, why are fans so cool with guys sitting around ducking fights waiting for Canelo.. the man Canelo moved up and beat up the entire top 5 at 168 the LEAST these guys can do is fighting somebody hood and earn a shot

 

How has he earned his shot apart from beating up the 2nd ranked fighter in the division 3 months ago and being the no 1 ranked contender for the last 3 years? lol..

 

man Caleb Plant just got KO’d and was called a cherry pick for Canelo a year earlier, Benavidez is a career 168 guy and only have 2 wins of any type of relevance at all. John freaking Ryder has fought more top 168 guys than Benavidez. I get it david got the hype right now but let’s get real homie ain’t did sh!t, but wait for all the other champions to get beat

As if its not already a crying shame he just cherry picked a middleweight who has not fought for 2 years and is suffering mental health problems? You don't do that and then fight Benavidez next year. He never will. Pure Coward.

 

Everyone knows who the number 1 guy is, and thats Benavidez. Canelo is ducking him hard. He is scared to even mention his name. Canelo should have been stripped for not fighting Benavidez next.

 

Mind you I’m a big fan of Jermall Charlo and he’s been trying to fight Canelo for 7 years now. The fact that this is the moment Canelo wants to fight him tells you all you need to know about Canelo. I can’t believe there’s guys in here saying what has Benavidez has done to deserve a fight like Canelo didn’t just fight John Ryder.

It’s only when someone is a threat that all of a sudden all these hurdles need to be cleared for Canelo to fight him. Billy Joe Saunders literally popped hot at 160 received a gift vacant title fight at 168 and played it safe until Canelo called his name. Same for Plant and the same for Callum Smith. David Benavidez just KO’d who most viewed as the 3rd best SMW.

 

Yes its so pathetic and predictable but he was able to get by so long with excuses even though the truth was obvious to some. Now he has been totally cornered and is totally exposed to everyone but the most delusional fan boys. Its good to see sane canelo fans calling him out now, its an offense to the sport of boxing what he is doing. Charlo looked and sounded awful on stream last week with Andrade.

 

To good to be true. Fights like this never make it to the finish line. Someone will get hurt one week before or something like that...

If the fight does happen, it will be a great, great fight.
