Gonna call em fangirls for being partly true ? Benavidez is in the same boat as Plant for resume but he is a better fighter. Benavidez looked the most impressive I've ever seen him, but against someone we all knew he'd dominate. i saw flaws and stylistcal traits Canelo would exploit and i still say Canelo wins a close fight
Why pray the boxing gods for this? Benavidez’ next fight should be for a SMW title, not against a 40 year old career MW. Especially when you consider he just fought a washed up fat MW last night.
you make it look like as if gg were less than 40 year old he would stop fighting tomatocans and move up in weight. And that's not the case, man, and it was never the case. NEVER.
Floyd: I'll fight Sergio Martinez at a catchweight. * crickets * Floyd: I don't duck no one. Floyd: I earned the right to pick and choose.
It may well be partly true but I do see it also as a tactic as a reason to avoid a fighter. It was something that Mayweather fangirls would say to dismiss a genuine challenge. As for Benavidez I think it's a good scrap. For Canelo it would cement him at 168lb and as I've said previously I don't know how many options Canelo has after GGG and a Bivol rematch. I think Benavidez has made a better case for himself after last night. At the end of the day I give fanboys and haters push back as to me it's irrational thinking either way.
That isn't all GGG's fault though he was clearly avoided for several years especially by Canelo who claimed he wasn't big enough. As for moving up well that's also a false equievelence. I don't see people giving Hagler or Monzón crap for staying at Middle and I'm not comparing just pointing out people applying a double standard to put another fighter down.
when rigo was avoided like the plague (hello frampton, hello santacruz, you doing well? mellow greetings!) he went up 2 freaking whole weights to fight a p4p guy. He lost, but he dared. You will never see gg doing what canelo did, that's why canelo is great and gg is a tomato can opener. Not because of lack of talent, but because of lack of balls and ambition. pretending that gg is (or was) going to fight benavídez at any moment is just hilarious.
Lemieux is 600 years old. Don't judge Benavidez by Lemieux fight. Throw Benavidez in the same ring with a top 5 SMW/LHW fighter and let's see what happens then.
That's a false equivelence though. You can't give an example of what one person did and then apply that to someone else because they are different entities. My original point about Hagler stands. There's nothing wrong with staying at one weight. Canelo is an exception but at his height he could only move up by taking a lot of gear. We know the guys at lighter weights boil down so can start at a low weight and progress as they get older. So your thinking is flawed and you are both irrational and using double standards. Characteristics of a fangirl or a hater are the same because both lack logical consistency in either elevating one beyond what is reasonable and then putting down another to make it stick. So I can't really take you seriously. Could GGG's resume be better than it is? Yes but as explained that isn't all GGG's fault and to suggest otherwise is just being irrational. That doesn't therefore mean that he's a can crusher considering he beat a roided up Canelo twice in most peoples eyes undermining your very premise.
Golovkin isn't Lemieux, their fight showed that. Lemieux hits hard and has other good traits but he is small of reach and not as technical and doesn't have the same chin. Nobody has steamrolled Golovkin yet, because they get countered very hard and even the jab is a problem. So I'll believe this guy crushes Golovkin when/if I see it. Golovkin sparred a lot with him which means he would know how to approach the opponent also. At 40, Golovkin might well be up against it in this match-up but he should be able to at least make it a brutal fight and I would give him a good chance of winning based on his ability and experience. He's a proven champion.
Golovkin is a 40 year old natural middleweight. Benavidez is a 175lber+ masquerading as 168lber. There are weight divisions for a reason. That said the skill gap between them is huge. Whether that can make up for the size and age disadvantage is up for debate
