I was at the Joe Smtih fight. Beterbiev was an extremely stocky guy who made Smith look weak and small. He had subtly great footwork and was able to land big shots at angles while never being off balance. I think he’d exploit Norton’s late start to boxing and limited punch resistance and get rid of him.
Hey, whatever you say.. you gotta stick with it. But I'm pretty sure Norton could knock him off balance with a half punch/arm punch. There are weight divisions for a reason. Or.. Beterbiev should go to heavyweight.. today..
Beterbiev and Benavidez are different animals, though. Biev has actually fought and dropped legitimate heavys, I'd bet he's also much more heavy handed than Dave.
So why is Beterbiev not fighting heavyweight today? Professionally? I know he's older.. that won't cut it against Norton.
Likely due to the fact that his career and longeivity would get shortened being the much smaller man every time he enters the ring on top of not being all that hard to hit. I wouldn't put it past a younger Artur having success as a heavy, in very select matchups, but how long would it last? How much punishment can he take?
Answer: Today's division features Tyson Fury and other giants, not chinless wonders who scale at 220.
