A member of Team Pacquiao handed him a cell phone and announced, “It’s David Diaz.”

“Hello, my friend,” Pacquiao said, beginning the conversation.

“I’m so happy,” Diaz told him. “On all the advertisements for the fight, they’ve been showing me on television, lying face down on the canvas. Now they’ve got a better knockout to show.”

    Pacquiao laughed. “Thank you, brother.”

gotta love David Diaz. His post interview was one of the funniest that I could remember.. And he's right..the KO punch of Hatton is going to be remembered for a VERY long time.

Diaz tells Hatton how to fight Pacquiao

David Diaz has a strange recommendation for Ricky Hatton, a boxing brawler: Don't brawl against Manny Pacquiao. When last we visited Diaz 10 months ago, he was face down on the canvas in the middle of the ring at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. He had been put there in the ninth round by a right hand from Pacquiao that stunned him, and a left that finished him. Before the knockout, Diaz had been battered and bloodied. Now Diaz, a well-spoken 32-year-old from the North Side of Chicago, who has a nice 34-2-1 record and who got his shot at the big time against Pacquiao on June 28, fears the same for Hatton in his Saturday night mega-fight against Pacquiao. "Tell him not to do what most of us do," Diaz says. "Tell him to try and make it into a boxing match." Diaz says he watched on TV when Hatton won by an 11th-round technical knockout over Paulie Malignaggi in November.

I felt really bad for Diaz with how the shot of him smacking the floor with his face got shown over and over and over and over again during this media blitz.

It's like when the local news does a story on how fat Americans are getting and keep showing the same footage of two gigantic asses rubbing their thighs down the street. They know who they are. Getting the tons of calls from family & friends with, "Hey! You and your lard-ass wife are on tv again!" is probably enough to make them wallow in a tub of ice cream and end up getting their butts videotaped all over again.

David Diaz is quite a down to earth character, it will be difficult to root against him in his next fight.

Diaz should have never hit the canvas in the first place. Fight should have been stopped earlier. He did however actually put his hands up, unlike Ricky who decided to use his face to block punches. I'm not too sure Diaz will fight again. Hatton should never fight again.
