I disagree. Diaz is not a great fighter. There isn't anything wrong with saying it. There also isn't anything wrong with saying that the expectations are set too high for him at this point given what he did against Diaz.
Pacquaio fans are some of the most sensitive around 4rounder, you can't even point out obvious things or observations you made(in impartial form)without them taking it as if you are coming down on the guy.
Dear Genius, Your calling ME a "noob?" Have you observed my join date? Why dont you do that and then you'll see that i was posting on this site waaayyyyy before you ever were. In fact, i started posting on this site in early 2003 before it crashed and i lost all of my posts, and thats when i had to start a new account in 2004, which was a long time before you showed up here. Just because i dont post 200 threads a day doesn't mean that i haven't been on esb longer than you (or in this case, MUCH longer than you.) :nono You understand me now, "noob?"
What I was trying to say didn't come through properly-- its just that you couldn't really hide your disatisfaction with a guy with a style like Pac if you wanted to. Its refreshing in a way. Even a moderate post is busting at the seams with it.
Yes. When I watched the Diaz fight tonight, I was specifically looking for the so called improvements, such as increased sharpness and tactical savy, but I did not find them, he was still very sloppy at times(he's always precise with timed single shots, but gets messy with combinations)and he fought in the exact same form, showing no so called 'counter puncher' improvements when Diaz managed to push him back a little on a few occassions in the bout. I also saw many openings that the larger, more accurate lightweights would exploit like JMM did, as well as Joan Guzman could, especially since to me he appeared a tad slower, seriously, not a knock on him, just didn't seem as quick as before at 130 and below. But the good news is he seemed very strong in terms of physical strength still, he will need that. Diaz was horrible, worse than Katsidis.
So what, I also came around 2004. Post count or join date does not change the fact that your post was crap. :hey
Amsterdam, I think you're wrong here. Pac seemed to retain almost all his speed, and it's obvious he packs a decent punch still at this weight. He used some good angles, and he threw some great combos, and his variation of punches was excellent. Diaz isn't ****, but Pac made him look like utter ****. Campbell is **** as well, he fought a good fight against a young kid, and he kept it dirty south style on Juan, and Juan didn't know how to handle it.. but Pac, Pac won't let Campbell do that ****, he'll go ape**** all over Campbell, and I tell you what, Campbell will quit, like he always has before when he doesn't think he's going to win. Nate Campbell isn't that good. I think Cassa would be destroyed by Pac at this point as well, as Cass was so damn slow against Katsidis, I think he'd be exploited, and the mistakes Katsidis made, well, Pac won't do that. Give him his due Amsterdam.
Yeah ok i believe that one...you've been around since 2004 but waited untill mid 2006 to start posting...good one. Your the one calling Diaz "****." Thats what i have a problem with. I'd love to see you go one round with Diaz.
Even if I don't like watching him, I can still observe him accordinly and see where his strengths lay at the new weight division and where the defincincies may be at the new weight division, thus what I am discussing. I wish people could talk about assessing a fighters level without getting pissy(pac fans and certain fans, not you). That's why I've liked debating with MSTR lately on disagreements, because I feel factors can be pointed out from both ends and certain mutual finds can be agreed upon. But yes, he is boring as hell unless he is with an opponent that gives him heat back, due to the fact that it's the same stuff over and over again.
I guess your posts didn't command too much credibility from your old ones then...either that or you got banned.:hi:
See this is where we disagree. Its like a great base stealer in baseball. He makes it to first, and everyone in the stadium knows that he intends to steal second. And still, he is able to do it. Its the mark of a great athlete. I loved watching Jordan too for the same reasons. Ten seconds left and you knew the ball was his. I like seeing the wrecking ball that is Pac and seeing if world class athletes can do anything to stop it. I also like the things you like in fighters, the diversity and versatility. I loved Jones for that. Time and place for everything in my eyes.
I disagree, he appeared slower, it could be the weight or the battles catching up to him. He didn't look 'slow' by any means, just not as quick as his normal self. His combo's were still sloppy, but as always, his single timed shots are very precise and hard. He had more variation in his punches here than in other fights, that is for sure, but level of opponent that allowed to get away with doing more without negating it is the subject. Well, if he didn't as the P4P #1, we'd have a serious problem here.:yep I disagree, Campbell is defensively very solid and Pac cannot explode well on a guy backing him up. Pac's defence is still leaky and always will be, Campbell is accurate and throws very precise quick combinations and is a fantastic in-fighter, where Pac is less effective. Pac has a KO chance for certain, but you are underrating Campbell here I think. Yeah, Casa would most likely be KOed, but it's also not a given, I could see Casa routinely landing his straight left and taking a fair bit of Pac's shots(don't think he'd had 1 punch power since leaving 126). But I'd favour Pac to get to him in a rough fight. Just for discussing something about plus and negatives, in a sea of overly positive reaction to ridiculous levels, is not taking away from a cemented HOF worthy fighter.:good
