Now that I think about it, that version would make the likes of Danny Williams and Maskaev look GOOD today.

Rodriguez was a meltdown but Wilder is a legitimate contender. David was not even Mexican. He was from El Paso and both of his parents were white. (His dad was of Spanish-Mexican decent)

Rodriguez was a scam artist, talking about fighting the Klitschkos years ago. Glad he got exposed, twice.

I can't post links yet because I'm a new member, but there is also a video on Youtube called "David Rodriguez gets KO'd during sportscast" ... where the local sports guy comes on during the intros and proceeds to do his five minute sportscast, yet keeps getting interrupted each time Rodriguez goes down. I don't know why he kept trying to read his reports, because I'm sure the people tuning in would've rather have seen the fight.

    You should check it out.

I didn't know much about Rodriguez - I saw him once on the undercard of Holyfield-Savarese - but I found out he got stabbed in the jaw about two years ago - he thought someone tried to cut his throat, and they nearly did. Whatever he was before that, he hasn't won since then. Getting nearly stabbed to death will take a lot out of a guy.

    Good post.:think

Yeah, Im pretty sure we'd all rather have seen the fight.

But the sportscaster had no idea David was gonna get blowed out by Ochieng, and surely he was only there to call and El Nino KO of Ochieng.

And about the throat slashing, yeah, he got rolled on New Yrs Eve 2012. He was at a club in AZ and 4 guys were fukking with him and a lady friend. He bucked up and got jumped.

He didnt do himself any favors by hollering racial slurs in the lead up to the slashing, but hindsights 20/20. He also didnt know that the entire world would find out about his indiscretion.

And yeah......he went from being iron chinned to ZERO CONFIDENCE. IDK if it was the Ding fight, getting his lights turned out, or the attack.....soemthing is different about him.:think

    He's shot. Confidence is GONE.

No business fighting scared. If your afraid to be punched, your'e in the wrong line of work. Especially at HW.:patsch

I don't even wanna hear about the stabbing incident. Yes, it's a shame it happened and may have taken something out of him...BUT...he was dogging it for like, 6 years before that happened. Fighting a couple times a year against nobodies, being a sideshow act.

He has no one to blame but himself for how his career turned out.

A shame because he could have parlayed the undefeated record into at least one big payday and invested the money but instead he just wanted to be a star in his hometown. .... he announced his retirement.

Exactly. He could have gotten a shot years ago by simply stepping up the competition (he wasn't even fighting top 30-40 guys) and being more active. He could have easily gotten a 1.5 million dollar payday against Wlad and laid claim to fighting for the biggest title in the world.

But he chose to be a moron, scrub and fraud.

Not sure why you bring up Rahman. At least Rahman fought tough club fighters and journeyman when he was staying busy and collecting title shots.

Rodriguez' resume is not only a joke, but his inactivity is stunning. He fought 3 times in his first 2 calendar years. J O K E. The most times he fought in a year was 5. J O K E.

If the dude had balls and motivation, he would have had 40-50 fights by 2009, and also when Owen Beck is your best win? LOL.

He was a fraud and delusional coward.
