I think the card yesterday was a okay beginning for Sky Sports/Boxxer. I didnt like the rap intro (reminds me of Fight School Sky Sports had a few years ago) and Johnny Nelson running around in the dressingrooms....?

Johnny Nelson should be in the studio together with Carl Froch doing the fight analysis. Anna Woolhouse is always good and great to hear Adam Smith.

Yes apparently they are planning it fo something similar to the Austrian card. Just to create some buzz around marku. reshat Mati will also be on that card. Plus we I’d imagine a couple of S jam fighters

won’t be a high level card just Matchroom going into a new territory

    Missed this last night, apologies.

I agree. It's a generational thing imho. Anyone who has grown up with Sky is used to long term contracts and has seen the prices creep up slowly over the years. It's become normal.

For a new entrant it's horrendously priced. I'd been internet only forever, but went for a cable package last year for the first time. Introductory 18 month package with Virgin Media with the full works TV package, cable, landline, SIM etc - currently £89 a month, but will be £150 a month once that's over. That's £1800 a year, plus TV licence - looking at £2k a year for the telly. Zero chance I'm doing that.

I expect to go back to internet only once it's up, and use Netflix, DAZN and Now TV for the events I fancy, plus whatever Box Office events I'd be paying Virgin extra for anyway. For anyone under 30, they're either doing this already or, more likely, streaming it.

My reading of the whole DAZN situation is that they're not only trying to compete with Sky and BT, but piracy too. Price it fairly, make it easy to subscribe and cancel, and offer fair terms. If they get the right content then they will surely gain marketshare from all sides.

Yes if Sky halved their prices, I think they would obtain higher levels of revenue than present with new subscribers.

The piracy won't be going away and the pricing is the key driver.

It does, but the TV cards will end up being the level of dinner table shows in hotels. Nothing particularly wrong with that, but can't see it keeping the TV execs happy or deliver much of an audience.

Only just had chance to catch up....did Froch and Woolhouse really just spend 3 minutes comparing Ebonie Jones to Mike Tyson??? Please tell me I'm hallucinating.:BangHead:

Yep, spot on and there were mugs in the crowd booing that stoppage, it would have been pointless to continue even if Taylor hadn't been as badly hurt he was just going to get more of the same. Anyway very respectable card considering the main event didn't happen and Avanesyan impresses me more and more each time I see him - proper old school style champion who fights anyone, Connor Benn moved over to DAZN at just the right time so he doesn't have to even consider fighting Avanesyan because at this point he'd get battered.
With Josh Taylor moving up to 147 once he gets Catterrall out of the way if he can't get the Spence or Crawford fights straight away wonder if Avanesyan could be a possible fight for him ??

Very good fight as well as all the other Top Rank and domestic cards lined up

if true that shows why SKY will always be the top dog. DAZN can only get near that number in the UK if they get AJ.

Has Marku fired off DAZN then?

I enjoyed the Sky card, from what I saw of it on Saturday when I was in the pub with the Mrs family. I didn’t know that many on it, outside of Taylor, Ava and RR, but all the fights seemed competitive and of a decent standard.
