Just feel like i had to put this in there after reading other threads,
Weight training does NOT slow you down, if you do it right.

Haye is arguably 1 of the fastest punching heavyweights currently.

Bruce Lee had very fast kicks and punches, and trained "religously" with weights.

Bruce Lee is an example of how that does not necessarily translates to speed while actually punching :D

He should have worked on technique instead :yep

You never know how David Haye might have been as a pro had he never bulked up. He might have been a really fast powerful light heavyweight with no chin issues. He's actually naturally a slim guy.

well hes not hitting that bag slow is he?? looks like a warm up session, hes transferring bodywegiht into his punches.

On Bruce Lee Films they had the camera slow down his Moves because they w ere too fast for screen to capture. NO LIE.

Let me make one thing clear...

fast twitchiness involves twitching your type b's while your type a's are isometrically concentrating to make the eccentric phase of the compoud exercise into a superset of clear power. Thus the twpe 2 a/b's are not part of the stretch reflex. Thus you should not run.

    Bollocks.

Hardly a fair video. First off he seemed to be throwing martial art punches rather than boxing ones and he's not going all out either. Watch his sparring vid in Longbeach, the guy had incredible timing and speed. His students, worldclass martial artists and kickboxers said he was the fastest man they ever met.

Punches are punches. I could show you a Manny Pac video that isn't all out either but shows at least ten times the speed and power.

I have watched one or two sparring vids and they don't impress me at all. Not sure if this one was among them, post it and I'll give my opinion on it. I never knew Lee coached worldclass kickboxers btw.

Bruce lee......a classic example of how not to lift weights.....

    http://www.shapeshifterfitness.us/2...-his-techniques-and-fitness-training-regimen/
    • Clean and press-2 sets of 8
    • Squat-2 sets of 12
    • Pullover-2 sets of 8
    • Bench press-2 sets of 6
    • Good morning-2 sets of 8
    • Curl2 sets of 8
    or
    • Clean and press-4 sets of 6
    • Squat-4 sets of 6
    • Good Morning-4 sets of 6
    • Bench press-4 sets of 5
    • Curl – 4 sets of 6
mean while he went from 130-165 lbs and with his speed and stamina drastically deminished (the lee thats fast and amazing....all body weight exercises and hours of training).....weights might not be all that bad.....but this rountine is.

Heres another example of how not to train with weights.....Brock lesnars rountine......for those of us who want no stamina, **** standup, and the ufc heavyweight title.....Just like brock......
