David Haye and Bruce Lee are classic examples of weight training NOT slowing you down

Me neither. All we have that proves his "superhuman" capabilities are a grainy non-impressive sparring video against an unknown person, and an even more non-impressive video of him throwing slow and incorrect punches. No fights, except for some eye witness accounts from half a century ago by his no doubt impartial followers and fanboys. But somehow he's the best fighter that ever lived, too bad he never chose to test himself in a ring against world class opponents.

Yeah but Bruce once told a man to close his hand as soon as he saw Bruce move and they put a coin in his hand and as soon as Bruce moved his hand the man closed his hand and laughed at Bruce and said hahaha I closed my hand before you got near the coin and then Bruce smiled and said hahaha and then opened his hand and showed the man the coin that was in the mans hand.

I don't think he was "superhuman" but he was a top quality Martial artist

Why would world class martial artist like Hayward Nishioka(judoka), Gene Labelle(wrestler), Joe Lewis(kickboxer) and others train with him and rate him highly?

Okay I'm going to weigh in on the original topic. I love my weight training, as strength gains are something that come pretty easily to me without ever seeming to gain weight. BUT, there was about three years in my late twenties to early thirties when I had no weights, travelling all the time, and was only jogging, and every few weeks I would spar the manual laborers we worked with, mostly Mexicans. I felt so fast, fluid, in control, all the time. In january I had been back in a weight lifting gym for a month and visited my old sparring partner in vegas, and I had an easy time with him and one other guy, even though I had been out of lifting for a long time, I felt so fast, even at 33 years old.

Fast forward to this last week. Just weight lifting for four months, went back up to visit them. Keep in mind that I had NOT been sparring regularly in those three years travelling, rarely working out at all, and I've been working out EVERY day for the past four months, with intense jump rope sessions too, really back in "strength" and "cardiovascular" shape, and seven pounds lighter, though I haven't sparred, only shadow boxed.

This past week I sparred my old middleweight sparring partner and a kid closer to my size, 130 lbs. I have to say, I WAS slower than after three years of NOT WORKING OUT AT ALL. I saw openings, and knew if I threw I would not be in position to bring my hands back quickly enough the way my body was responding. You don't age that much in three months.

The 130 lb kid popped me twice in the face pretty good with shots he would never have connected with three months ago, or during the three years I wasn't lifting. I saw them and for whatever reason my whole body was TIGHT. So instead of outspeeding him I just outstrengthed him. BUT I definitely think you need to take at least a week or two weeks off of weight training before you compete, because that tightness just does not let your body move as fluidly as it should. It makes easy fights harder sometimes, because you just feel tighter, in your lower back, in your biceps, in your neck. At least, I do. Maybe I feel a little stronger in the clinches, but it sure doesn't improve your punch resistance in the face.

    So far we have:

    1) The film was slowed down so we could see Bruce punch, as he's too fast for the human eye.
    2) He's merely warming up and not trying.
    3) He's throwing a different punch than a boxers punch, speed is measured differently with these types of punches.
    4) It's not Bruce Lee but a protege.

    Keep 'em coming

he does dig pretty far into the bag......i wouldn't want to get hit cleanly by one of those punches.

like theres the speed that you can throw combos.....like the pacman video demonstrates and then theres the speed that you can get any single punch going when you impact. i havnt watched the lee video looking for the individual punch speed (like how listons jab might not of been as fast as alis but at impact it defiantly had a higher top speed) it might be fast...though the combo speed is atrocious as is his form compared to a boxing form, but hes not really going for that.
