Bruce Lee was playing around with the boxing bag and never trained in boxing so I don't think that video is reflection of his skill

it didnt...im wrong......he very easily could have had more weight behind it as well instead of it actually having a higher top speed.

any ways there are many diffrent factors to the speed of a punch.

like how fast some one throws combos.....and the top speed some ones punch actually gets before impact.

some one who dosnt put much power OR speed into their punches will have an easier time return the punch giving them a faster individual punch thus faster combos. some one who puts as much weight and/or speed into their punch will have a harder time returning their fist will have a slower combo speed but a more penetrating/powerful punch.

lee wasnt trying to tap the bag with pitty pat punches, he was trying to move the bag.

as well lifting weights improves your ability to accelerate more mass. so lifting weights will defiantly improve your combo speed.

    final thoughts:

Bruce lee was an actor that read alot and trained very hard. deep down inside he had a tremendous fear of what would happen with his films and legacy if he actually lost a fight and really didnt partake in anything other then teaching for this reason. thats it.

So if you don'tput much speed into a punch then it will be faster. And if you lift weights then you will automatically be faster.

    More nonsense.

You speak utter drivel- this coupled with your critism of others and shitty awful bag video's is why you get so much stick. Your a moron and what makes it worse is you believe your own ****. Honest just make a new profile and **** off. :hi:

you could also say "im doing this on purpose by playing ignorant" even though ive asked you not to harras me multiple times... but if your just trolling perhaps it should go in the other thread.

Ridiculous, weights might help you to move more mass but that is completely unrelated to your needs for acceleration (Force = mass x acceleration). You can punch a bag and move it as much as you like but if you're punching at a lower speed your power (Force x velocity) is going to be shite. Moving a bag is absolutely pointless as it's after the point of impact and is in no way a measure of power. It shows you can push a bag, it doesn't show you can punch. If you get into the habit of pushing a bag you're gonna be leaving your hands out for too long and that's gonna spell trouble if you ever want to get in front of someone in a boxing ring. I know there's not much danger of that happening with you Ylem, that advice is more so for the people with gonads.

true true, moving was a bad word to use.

penetrate the bag? dig into the bag? bending the bag inhalf? are those better? as thats what i was trying to point out as what lee was doing....this is why i was stating that while his combo speed may suck the velocity of each individual punch at impact is quite great giving him the ability to dig into the bag.

    really, quite a good post.

of course its not better......regardless of what i say there will always be something wrong with it....as thats the goal of most here.

You need to train heavy or very light. That mid range 8-12 reps is where you get sarcomplasmic hypertrophy (muscle growth due to increased fluid) this slows you down. Heavy training preferably done with some band weight conditions the nervous system to bring more motor units to bear faster.
