Haye cut in sparring – forced to postpone Fury fight



Hayemaker Boxing regret to inform that David Haye has been forced to postpone his September 28 bout with Tyson Fury due to a deep cut suffered during the final spar of training camp.

The cut above his left eyebrow occurred in round two of sparring on Friday night (September 19) and required six stitches by a plastic surgeon at St. Thomas' hospital. Because of the gravity of the cut, these stitches will now remain in place for five to seven days.

Unfortunately, after being properly assessed, Haye was left with no choice but to postpone his fight with Fury, scheduled for next Saturday night in Manchester. He is currently waiting on further medical assessment to determine the extent of the postponement.

“Gutted isn't even the word,” said a crestfallen Haye. “Mentally, I'm on the floor at the moment. I'm devastated most of all for my loyal fans, my family and my team, as well as Tyson Fury and his team.

“I know injuries and cuts are part and parcel of our sport, but this doesn't change the feeling of disappointment and sadness I'm experiencing right now. To everyone who has bought tickets, booked hotels, and followed this fight since it was announced, there is absolutely nothing I can do except apologise from the very bottom of my heart.

“Even when everything seems to be right on track, sometimes life throws you a curveball. I will somehow have to try and make the best of this horrible situation. But, right now, I'm in bits about what has happened.”

That is a old pic of a cut. He needs to get his ass in the ring cut or no cut.

 

Naw, he just has TOILET PAPER THIN SKIN along with delicate toe syndrome. Tough breaks for a boxer man :-(

if thats the cut...he has every right to cancel, just 1 of them unfortunate things....

 

wasn't he wearing a ****en headgear....that area right there is hella covered when wearing headgear

 

Why was he sparring on Friday? Fury is done with his camp but Haye is still sparring six days before the weigh in? Idiot.

I see Haye used the same kind of makeup to fake it as they used to fake the cuts in Spartacus: Blood and Sand.

 

Bad cuts don't get only 6 stitches. That is nothing and you can see they didn't even stitch the whole thing the left side wasn't even deep enough to stitch :rofl

Don't be a douche. I don't care **** for Haye, and he was probably an idiot for sparing this close w/o headgear (if that is indeed the case), but you can't go in the ring with ANY kind of recent cut near the eyes that required stitches. It will easily be reopened in the ring, effect his vision, and most likely cause the doc to stop the fight. That would be dumb for the fighter and a rip off for the fans anyway.

 

Haye has already ripped the fans off plenty of times against Harrison, Valuev, and Wlad. This is nothing new. 6 stitches is nothing. Sorry.

 

he got injured and had to pull out from fighting Vitali , then broke his hand against Valuev , toe against Wlad , and now he's cut against fury , 4 injury's and he only fought 6 times at heavyweight .
