With last nights majority decision victory over Nikolai Valuev, did Haye convince you that he is now a legitimate heavyweight? How do you feel he would do against the likes of Arreola, Chambers, Ruiz and Tua? Do you feel that Valuev was just another over-hyped (and over-sized) bum and Haye didn't prove anything except that he could beat a bum? Please don't discuss the Klitschkos in this thread (we all know how good they are), we all know Haye will eventually meet one (or maybe both) of them - the question is, will he make it that far? Apparently his next fight should be against Ruiz, how do you see it playing out (hopefully he doesn't hurt his hand any more)? I didn't think Haye would beat Valuev, but personally he really opened my eyes with his tactics last night. I thought he would just rush in and get caught. I think the speed of Haye demolishes Ruiz.
You say dont disscuss the Klits but he is 29 and wants to retire after unifying at 31? His future is all about the Klits. I dont think he'd even consider Arreola or Chambers to be honest. Aside from the Klits he may look at Adamek, in the same way he saw Enzo as a loose end.
yes, to be fair from the little i've seen i'm impressed. He still has the flaws that he's always had and always will. He's physical and athletic and uses that to great effect. Those same strengths have so far let him get away with occasionally sloopy technique and poor defense. If he can continue doing what he's doing, pick his spots and fight to HIS style. he can take all but the very best
I've been a fan of Haye since he unified the cruiserweight titles. I thought last night was an off-night for him as he did not attack enough. When he explained that he broke his hand - I better understood his low punch output.
of course NO and why so many people try to convince themselves that haye did good job... i know that he fought with a giant but still it was nothing special, valuev won this fight, he was busier, he attacked all the time and don't tell me that he missed all his shots cause it ain't true. And Haye was just running away, who cares he hit some hard punches, i can count them on my left hand. Besides from Valuev's reaction after the fight i guess it all was arranged... PS there is no title for breaking your own hand, you've got to show something
Yes and No. His chin passed the test, his one right hand did more damage to Valuev than anyone elses, and he also proved how athletic he was by barely getting hit by Valuev. The bad would be he wasn't as action packed as he claimed he would be. Was he elusive, yes, but he didn't engage enough for my liking. Overall he did pretty good. If he could make Valuev do the chicken dance, I'm sure he would send the glass chinned Wlad into a coma with that same punch.
i knew that some ******* will see this but nevermind. so even if he hit those 10 big shots in this fight it's still too less to give him a decision, don't be a morron and watch fight again, c a r e f u l y
u were probably shouting robbery when Froch won because Dirrell didnt get hit and landed the cleaner shots. haye a. didnt get hit, b. hit valeuv with cleaner shots. c. even Valeuv has been sporting about the loss. so he didnt hog the centre of the ring and miss by a foot plus on multiple occasions? and yes i am an ******* :deal
I watched some of the fight already and I'll give credit to Haye. Although he didn't throw that many punches and wasn't as exciting as he claimed he would be.
David Haye did what he was expected to do by most, nothing more and nothing less. He was a decent favorite at the bookie and he won the fight like a decent favorite should.
I think that given the size of the opponent, Haye had a good game plan and executed it well. If Haye would have wobbled him earlier he may have been more aggressive earlier and might have hurt Valuev more but I don't think any1 but the Klits can really KTFO out Valuev. But props to Haye for getting past the Ice Age troglodyte. Ruiz will be a far harder fight for Haye since he is far more experienced than Valuev. Ruiz is a much craftier veteran and has a frustrating, boring style that can make anyone look like ****. He also has a sneaky right hand that carries some pop and he arguably beat Valuev twice. Say all you want about Ruiz but only Tua has been able to put him away. His chin, perseverance and ability to survive for 12 rounds is way underrated. Bottom line is, not many guys can claim to being a two time HW champ.
1. Won - No he lost. Not by so very much. But enough. 2. Attacking - He didn't attack. He WALKED forward because he is the bigger man in the ring by 15cm and 50kg. Sheesh...so suprising fight-development huh...? 3. Missed all his shots - No, he didn't. But, he didn't hit either. Just glaced off. Had maybe...and that's MAYBE two or three decent hits. 4. Runned away - He boxed tactical. It's suicide to stand toe to toe with a brick wall, as long as Haye ain't bigger than he is.
