David Haye, Doctors said he should not fight again! Is this the real answer?

No, Haye came back to fight for the fans, for me and you, to entertain us all with the likes of Di Internet Trained, Ggggggggggg and all time great Bellew.

    Thanks David.

The money was just a bonus for him, the honour was in the battle.

Deep down it probably was. But his aim was definitely to get a fight with Joshua for the biggest payday possible. If you think he went into the Bellew fights expecting to lose but happy to make the money you are delusional. He knew he was shot but thought he still had enough to take care of Bellew. He was wrong.

If it was only about money he would have quit when his Achilles went first fight. It’s purely about fighting pride and the Warrior’s Code for Haye when he’s in the heat of battle.

Yes he came back because he was kippered up by middle eastern business men, and because his wife was fed up with all his affairs with both men and women, and she took him to the cleaners (because he has a kid with her too).

Divorce pay outs with kids assume a man has the same income regardless of changes in circumstances, in Hayes case as a retired boxer in “business” it’s very different to being active and at his peak . So it’s brutal.

That’s the only reason he came back after 4 years out when all the talk before was he too clever to fight on when he was past it.

Thanks for that, makes sense now.

IMO he knew he wasn't beating Bellew. His leg looked worse this fight than the last from as early as the latter 1st round. He must be in die straits financially to put his future mobility on the line against Bellew.

He still thought that one shot could end Bellew, nowt to do with pride, If the Achiiles had snapped v Joshua he wouldn't be getting up.

i think he definately came back for the money BUT he was deadly serious about winnning, i dont think he would have fought fights he knew he couldnt win just for the money his ego is or was too big.

He took bellew for the money AND because he thought it was easy to boot.

Second fight was as much for pride as it was for money.

Ultimately he made a mistake fighting a smaller, lighter, faster, fitter and i must add very skillfull cruiserweight.

He would have had more success going the heavyweight route, but ultimately would have come up short in the end.

I think this confirms why him and Booth split. they were such a great team it never made sense to me. Booth just told him its over, his form since that pretty much confirms it. I also believe he though the could at least beat Bellew. in reality he probably doesn't care much about losing though, he knows in a year no one will care and people will see it that Bellew beat him on the slide. Tony even said that himself to his credit.

He obviously only came back for the money. But like any top level boxer a small part of him thought he still had enough to achieve something, he wasn't totally without ambition. Remember he didn't retire because he wanted to, he retired because doctors told him he had too.

He thought he still had enough to beat Bellew and then maybe pick up a title or a mandatory spot then likely cash out vs Joshua, win or lose he would of retired again with a nice nest egg. Suffice to say he didn't have as much left as he thought he had.

He looked terrible when he first came back out of retirement, chubby, super angry, stressed, worn down, tired and homeless looking, Looked like he had been through a lot of **** and was in a very dark place, Most likely from his own doing, I think he did come back for the money but also thought he still had enough to be some what decent again, bulked up hoping he could land haymakers and that would be enough, Knocked over a couple of bums for a few million and got stopped by bellew twice for a few million more. He's made some decent money for this comeback best to learn his lesson and spend it wisely from this point on.
