    No it isn't.
Chagaev didn't fight for over a year after defeating Skelton.
What did you want the WBA to do in the interim - give him an indefinite amount of time to recover? What if his injury had kept him out for two years? Or three?
The fact is when it became clear that Chagaev's injuries would keep him out for such a lengthy period of time he should've been demoted to the status of mandatory challenger, not crowned 'Champion in Recess' ffs.

    Nope.
A man who doesn't defend his belt for over a year can not expect to hold onto his title.

But Chagaev was technically still the WBA champion, he didnt lose it in the ring.

Plus he had already beaten Valuev.

I think in many rational peoples minds, Haye isnt classed as "the" champion just mearly a title holder.

Technically he earned a belt but he was claiming to be the guy who clean
out the HW division ... he didn't earned any respect yet in this area.

He beat two weak contenders and run away from Valuev
lets see how he will do against Ruiz ... maybe he will earn then.

Haye beat one of the title holders (the weakest from them but he still beat him). What more you must do to prove yourself if not beating the champion? Maybe his opposition isnt the best quality (Bonin, Barett, Valuev and now it will be Ruiz) but its not his fault that WBA has such weak fighters in ranking.

Valuev refused to fight Chagaev in june the reason Wlad, Chagaev was abe to be made Valuev didnt want to fight Chagaev who already defeated him so he pussed out of the rematch.

U should remember that before chagaev fought wlad fight there had been set a rematch with valuev to see who's the real wba Champ , valuev for some reasons , maybe scared to lose again maybe cuz of financial issues pulled out of the fight ( they used bullsh1t reason for this that chagaev has hepatitis b which btw he also had during their first encounter) , and only cuz of don kings money remained his part of the cake ,

But first of all its valuev who should be only interim champ as chagaev didnt lose the belt in the ring ,he was inactive for a year true , but every1 with a brain knows that wasnt the real reason valuev fought for the belt again

it was Don king who owns wba atm and he just cynicly used that inactivity as opportunity to give back the belt to his own figher ,and then when they were going to meet again and settle this situation , valuev pulls out and is called the real chamop by the wba ,its obviously corrupted decision and shouldnt be defended by any real boxing fan , not to mention that Guillermo jones don kings cruiserweight champ is inactive for more than a year and there wasnt any fight for interim version of his belt let alone the regular one.

He Ko'ed an old Barrett and won a close boring fight with Valuev not bad
but until he has faced a Klitschko he won't get much recognition as a HW Champ

I don't like him but i hope he ko's Ruiz like Tua did.

he only beat barrett to earn a shot. I cant think of many more undeserving contenders at the minute. People criticised Klit when he got an immediate shot, but he was the returning champion.
