Yes. Vitali retired without losing the WBC belt in the ring. The WBC chose to grant him "Champion Emeritus" so in the event he decided to make a comeback, he wouldn't have to work his way up their rankings. I believe Lewis was granted that status as well. Besides all that, Vitali proved he deserved that honor by beating the living **** outta Samuel Peter.
in my opinion no, but he got it, even if he was some bull**** recess world champion bla bla bla... i think the unified cruiser weight champion earns automatically a permission to fight against the heavyweight champion. i think haye deserves to fight a klitschko, and even that he pulled out against both, i can accept it, i'm not a crazy ass fan boy. haye is smart, if he is going to lose big, then he should get real money.
Vitali retired 4 years prior to fight with Peter. The 'Champion Emeritus' status is bull****. It's the same with Chagaev's 'champion in recess' status. If you can't fight at least once a year you don't get to keep your title. If you're injuries are so bad that you have a period of inactivity for four years, you shouldn't get any free passes to the top. You should work your way up, just like everybody else. If you don't agree with this you're essentially admitting extreme bias.
Adamack Oniell Bell and Cunningham were all there he never fought any of them so yes he never did clean out the division. Just to clarify Mormeck was never the IBF champion. So no he wasnt without dispute Cunningham had the IBF belt since november 2006 long before he fought Mormeck. And in the end it wasnt Haye ducking Adameck..... its that Haye was not as claimed by his halfwit fans, Mickeyblueballs etc.. He never was undisputed and he sure as hell never cleaned out the cruiser division now did he....
Haye hyped his way in and now needs to prove himself against solid opposition. He'll have to get past the mental block of the big K brothers. Hype will not win champ status until he unifies a few belts at least....Solis, Chambers, Povetkin, Wlad and Vitali would all be too much for Haye, among others.
The WBA belt situation is a mess. At one point Chagaev, Valuev and Holyfield all had a claim to that belt. Now (if anyone still wants to argue) you could say Haye and Klitschko both have a claim to the belt. If the best fighters consistently fight the best fighters though, it can all be cleared up easily
He didn't deserve the shot at a title. He ducked both Klits. He is certainly not the champ. He is a title holder. As soon as he fights either Klit he will lose that belt and everyone knows it. He didn't deserve the decision over Valuev. Personally, I think the whole thing is a scheme to make HW division more marketable because he is an explosive fighter who runs his mouth. I would love to see him fight Adamek. Would be a good fight, but I see Haye losing.
ARE YOU UNABLE TO READ? What ****ing point was it that Adamek was 'there'. When Haye beat Enzo, Adamek hadn't even won an eliminator at cruiserweight. Adamek hadn't won a single meaningful fight at cruiserweight. He was just the guy who got beaten by Chad Dawson. FACT. Haye had already stated his intention to step up a division PRIOR to his fight with Enzo Mac. By the time Adamek beat Bell, Haye had already left the divison. Adamek was not a significant figure when Haye was at cruiserweight. Deal with it. And what sense would it have made for Haye to fight Bell? He beat Mormeck for the titles. What would he have to gain by fighting Bell? Using this logic, I suppose you think Haye should go round chasing all of Wlad's leftovers to prove his superiority? And once again I agree that Haye was not undisputed at cruiserweight. If you read my initial post, you would've seen I accept that. The level of debate is sufficient evidence of dispute. However, some on this site are claiming that Wlad is the rightful WBA champ, seeing as he beat Chagaev who never lost his belt in the ring. Those same people must then concede that if they employ the same logic, they must believe that Haye was the undisputed cruiserweight champion, seeing as Haye beat Mormeck, who beat Bell, WHO NEVER LOST THE IBF TITLE IN THE RING. You see it wasn't Mormeck who was stripped of the title, it was Bell (& rightfully so I might add).
So if Wlad is the rightful WBA champ, do you think Haye was undisputed at cruiser, seeing as he beat Mormeck, who beat Bell, who never lost the IBF title in the ring?
Your right. I was very upset when I heard this fight was going to take place. Vitali didn't deserve it, but he proved himself by kicking Sam Peter's ass like his brother wasn't able to do.
Man its not only about not losing the belt in the ring ,its about illegally takin away the belt fromthe righftul owner (chagaev) just to give it to other guy (Valuev who got beat by that guy btw) without any particular reason. You have to consider that chagaev wanted to prove he's the real champ by fighting valuev again , and it was valuev who REFUSED to fight for the 2nd time. Therefore it should be obvious chagaev is the real champion ,But as we all know nothing is obvious when Don king is around...
