David Haye Has Made The Final Shortlist For BBC's S.P.O.T.Y.

I think what Losfer meant was it is a popularity contest which is certainly is.

 

I think that if you use the words on the tin " Sports Personality" Haye should win it hands down... But I would not anticipate this to be a platform to launch Boxing back on the BBC...

I think that Button wins with Haye in 2nd place followed by Ennis...

 

Never forget Christy Martin.

 

I don't see Jenson Button as a personality though.

I'd say Jessica Ennis is a deserving winner..... after missing the Olympics to come back and whup a pretty strong field in a tough event.

Haye comes across as a bit of an arse to a lot of people (not me) and hasn't exactly been active, has he?

 

Its also very shoddy and cheap journamlism when the BBC state, ''In 2009 David Haye became the Heavyweight Champion of the World''.

No he ****ing didn't. He picked up a paper title.

Its all a bit of a bandwagon with Haye at the moment, which is a good thing i suppose. But it also means a lot of very poor journalism from football writers who suddenly know everything about boxing.

 

He deserves to win it, being the first British heavyweight title holder in five years and actually having a personality.

But Button will probably win it, more's the pity.

 

i thought carolina kluft wasnt there. bit like in ireland when harrington won the majors when woods wasnt there, its just not the same. read the observer sport interview with her and she seems like a nice girl and a proper pro

 

everyone on here should be voting for haye, even if its on the bull**** platform of 'heavyweight champ' which he isnt, its still good for the sport to be in mainstream sports journalism

 

also does anyone know when the international star of the year shortlist is announced?


surely the pacman is in with a shout on that one? granted bolt is a near certainty

how come that little puff made it and Khan didn't.

 

think so, he was on and being made to feel uncomfortable by des lynam being mostly asked was he afraid to have fought tyson so prob 1996.


thing is he got it ahead of micheal johnson, who had just broken the 20 yrs old 200m record and won the 400m in the olympics so it was a mark of respect to holyfield to have gotten it.


he was also on it the year lennox lewis won with ali and they both conducted themselves pretty well.

 

I won't be voting and it would do boxing no harm at all if Haye won but if I wasn't a boxing fan I'd probably go for Ennis. It out of her and Button IMHO and I hate motor "sports".
