There's no pleasing some people on this forum. As a cruiser, Haye was an exciting fighter, constantly taking on tough fights and never held back from a challenge. He went to Paris to take on Mormeck which a lot of boxers wouldn't fancy, and came away with the win. I honestly think he could boil back down to cruiserweight and still win back all his belts now The heavyweight move didn't really work out for him, but there's no need to trash his career just because of that. The heavyweight division is where all the money is, so you can understand his preference for going for the option of fewer fights for more money at heavyweight than the opposite at cruiser level. If you don't like what he is doing at heavyweight that's fine, just don't forget what he did at cruiser level
Jean Marc Mormeck and Enzo Mac are hardly the cream of the crop when it comes to opposition and let's get it straight Haye made his name in the Cruiserweight division beating those two guys. What about Marco Huck and Steve Cunningham, those guys were the ones to beat at Cruiser if you ask me and Haye avoided them. Then milked his title status into a shot at the heavyweight title against that big robot Valuev. Hayes career at cruiser is way overrated, holding a couple of belts does not make you the best you've got to fight the best to be the best.
What bravery this may Haye showed going to such a hostile boxing mecca as Paris to face the oh-so-dangerous best cheese-eating, pinky-waving cruiserweight in all of France. SMH.
I agree mate, he took some good shots from Klitschko. His supposedly bad chin has been more a stamina problem and physiological. A great example is Larry Holmes, someone who was knocked down against Shavers but because he was so mentally aggressive he was able to keep his composure when hurt. A lot of detractors here, but look what he did in 28 fights, Unified Crusierweight Champion and Heavyweight Titlist. Not bad at all when Deontay Wilder has the same amount of fights as Haye.
Haye flopped all over the ring like a goldfish who's jumped out of his bowl when he had a title shot. Shameful.
How to rate Haye? A top 5 all time cruiserweight (probably top 3 in my own rankings) who had a go at stepping up.
How would Haye have faired against Cunningham and Huck if he had stayed at Cruiserweight? Huck would have been very interesting I tnink. Cunningham had never been stopped until Fury stopped him - but I think Haye could have too probably.
Haye only won the title because the HW division was in such a state. Do I blame him, no way there was money to be made. But against a real HW with some ability he is losing all day long!!!
