The ''fight'' was in a pub I was in last night. People were laughing their heads off at it, 'fix' and 'pro wrestling' were the words I remember being used most. Never seen a guy take an Ashley Young style dive from a jab before, at any level of boxing.

Barry Mcguigan being paid to work the fight was embarrassing, surprisingly enough he thought a guy being trained by his son looked fantastic! Next stop Shannon Briggs, a guy who is old enough to have gone to school with Tyson Fury's dad.

Dave and David Haye have made professional boxing look like a circus, a fairground freak show that requires no skill. Everything Tyson Fury says about Haye seems more and more truthful. Haye is perpetrating fraud, and the victims of his crime are fans of boxing.

We've got more boxers with world titles than any other country, contenders in almost every division & plenty of talented prospects.

Our amateurs are set for another successful Olympics & our WSB team has a big semi-final this week.

Haye fighting a couple of overmatched puddings with padded records (like post prison Tyson did) on a 3rd rate channel is definitely gonna destroy all of that & give everyone AIDS so good thread m8, well done.

The whole thing was a joke but the idiots that go and pay to watch it are the ones that encourage it. An embarrassment to boxing!

The 'event' was hideous but Haye is a known con man and the fight was on a zero rate channel in Dave not ITV- no harm was done to boxing in general because of last night IMO

This thread is a bit hyperbole really.

Haye will fight bums for easy pay days until he gets a shot at a title (he hopes), that's how it generally works, he's not the first and wont be the last to go with this plan.

It's a tried and tested method.

Will he get a shot at a proper contender is the real question.

The thing is he also gets big ratings. Far more than Sky are getting. More people watch than the frampton fight that was on itv

Agree with all this, of course Haye isn't going to take any risks until the rewards justify the risk e.g title shot or mandatory eliminator. This is common practice for most fighters let alone ones that are making comebacks.

But your comparing FTA channel in Dave to a paid subscription in sky sports.

Also what about actual TV revenue. Can't imagine Dave are paying much.

The only reason haye is fighting on Dave is because nobody else is interested in paying for these joke fights.

I don't blame the fans for going 2 guys from work went only because they can't get tickets for AJ at the 02 and wanted to go especially to go and watch boxing at the 02.

I lay the blame squarely at the feet of the BBBOC how on earth Zarate, Gjergjaj were allowed to box is shocking

And Haye celebrating after the win and the ref patting him on the back just puts boxing in a bad light.

Total embarrassment that an event at the 02 was allowed to happen. I would like to think this is a one off but its not

That doesn't wash though if Haye really wanted to fight the big names in the future go to the US and work your way up. Go and fight in Germany or wherever against decent opposition.

getting old this oh your not on sky cant fight decent opposition. People have short memories the good fighters who were on normal television.

The issue with guys like De Mori, Gjergjaj etc is they have an inflated ranking with the governing bodies because of long undefeated streaks against sub par opposition.

I'd like to see a rule where you can only have one fight with a person outside the top ten per year if you are ranked inside the top ten across the board, to stop these mismatches and ensure that the best fight the best.

The lack of actual rules is hurting boxing at this point.

I hope AJ tells him to do one. Constantly going on about fighting him, he's done less than diddly squat to be anywhere near a title shot. Can't the authorities get involved with this one? Regardless of money involved, it should be refused to be sanctioned until he's earned it. All he's doing is trying to ride on the coat tails of AJ's success. He could pressure AJ into the fight, beat him and hurt the young mans career badly. Why don't he do the decent thing, climb the ladder and go after Wilders or Furys belt first. At least make the big GB showdown a unification.

What will be the icing on the cake is when he proclaims that victory over Briggs makes him worth a title shot.
