It seems a lot of people still don't understand Haye's mentality. That's okay, people seem to have gotten used to so many softly-softly opponents backing their way into title fights by default. Haye wants to be the best guy around. He has the confidence to do it. Of course he's going to try to take on who he considers to be the best around, and he's always spoken of Vitali as better than Wlad in his eyes. If you want to be a world champion, then you take on the top guys. You don't scrabble about, try to get lucky with a belt and have a couple soft defences because losing it and shrugging your shoulders. People have forgotten how real contenders and champions used to do things. Short of Wlad vs Vitali, this is the best possible thing that could happen to the heavyweight division. Those that are grousing about it are missing the mark by a huge mile. And if Haye's way of hyping and promoting offends you, suck it up, you're going to be getting it in double-helpings over the next 7 months.
The magazine "Mortal Kombat fatality" picture was a brilliant move by Haye, and makes me believe he and his team had made the decision, for whatever reason, that they wanted to get Vitali, and not Wlad, in the ring. Job well done.
What is comes down to is this... Haye sees Vitali as being the 'big dog' in the division, and so he's going for broke. He believes he can be number one, so he's going for the number one guy in his eyes as soon as possible. Could he benefit from a HW fight or two first? Yeah, probably. But Haye has been given this opportunity and, like always in his career, he'd going to grab it. He's willing to take a massive risk to become the number one, because that's all that's important to him. There's no guarantee that Wlad is an easier opponent. There's also no guarantee that Vitali will be around all that long, given his age and injury history. Sometimes you just have to strike when the iron is hot. Haye is.
This content is protected WBC turned into WWE when David Haye and Vitali Klitschko were involved in a furious wrestling match at a packed restaurant. Haye fights Klitschko for the WBC world heavyweight title in London in June but 6ft 8in Vitali snapped when taunted about his brother Wladimir. Londoner Haye tossed a mocked-up magazine picture showing a decapitated Wladimir on to the table in front of other diners. Klitschkos manager Berndt Boente said: Vitali was very, very angry. He grabbed David and they then wrestled for a few seconds. He also gave David a push. He fell back and then tried to make a joke of it by doing some kind of dance only then did it calm down. Ukrainian Vitali, nicknamed Dr Ironfist, snapped: He crossed the line. It is more than tasteless and he will be punished for it. I will do that without emotion in the ring. Hayes manager Adam Booth said: I was sitting with Vitalis manager for negotiations to set up the fight for about 18 hours. At the end David and Vitali came to the restaurant to shake hands over the table. David tossed a copy of the magazine across the table with him dressed up as one of the characters from the Reservoir Dogs film holding Wladimirs head. When Vitali saw it he just lost the plot. It is hoped to stage the fight at a major football stadium in London. [YT]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsAa3fVubUg[/YT]
That picture is officially copyrighted as my avatar, anyone else using it is now a ****. Quitali Quitschko might be big in a restaurant but we know hes a quiter in the ring.
I think that Haye did not really want to fight the younger klitchkon. He knows that vitaly is going to trap and challenging him to match, because of his irritation against wladimir klitchko.. As well as the Gomez he knows that Vitali is easier opponent to him, because of Vitalys injuries and long pause of boxing. Very smartly calculated thing from Haye
Haye may be a good promoter but he should have thought more about his health. He is going to spend a lot of money in the healing process after the figth with Vitali. Vitali is going to make him pay dearly.
