    Apparently they're trying to make Briggs v Hughie Fury. I think that would be more appropriate - Shannon has to fight someone (anyone) who isn't a club-fighter before landing a big fight.

    Ya it accomplishes 2 things. Briggs will get his fight with Haye and Haye will get a somewhat soft opponent (and look good) in Briggs for his first WBA title defense
