David Haye is returning on Dec. 10

There must be a reason why Haye ducked Briggs. I bet he has a better/easier/more lucrative fight lined up.

 

Well in that case it's a real shame fights aren't fought depending on who has the best win in the last 6 years or Haye might lose.

Unfortunately they aren't or Haye might be in with a chance of losing.

 

...Then makes the announcement that said opponent will be Shannon Briggs.

 

Briggs is looking for a massive payday.

Haye has no TV deal, and demands a large sum himself (at least £1m), so Briggs was likely not getting the pay he was expecting.

 

Wouldn't mind the Browne fight. The whole Briggs debacle was cringeworthy, even Haye himself must've though "nah, not even I could stoop THAT low".

 

In which case, Briggs needs to swallow his pride and be realistic.

 

The only way Haye could've stopped any lower was having that mooted debacle broadcast on Dave TV -- the home of witty banter!

 

Absolutely true, but I guess you would still pick Haye?

 

If that's the case he'd be a fool not to take it then wouldn't he?

I think Haye saw the turmoil developing and waited until the dust settled before committing. Smart move.

 

Not suggesting it's impossible, but Browne is meant to be negotiating with Oquendo to contest the vacant WBA belt he thought was already his.

He'd have less trouble with Oquendo than Haye and come away with a belt as well.

Then again, if Oquendo doesn't come up fit and willing, Browne vs Haye for that belt would make a lot of sense.

 

Meanwhile, World Boxing News claim they have 'been reliably informed' that a fight between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko is likely to take place on December 10, in London.

December 10th all of a sudden getting awfully busy.

 

Totally off topic but does anyone here think that David Haye could have his own talk show? He's always well spoken and sharply dressed for his commentary gigs for sky sports.

 

The fact that Haye is fighting on Dec 10th immediately made me think he'd be on the same card as Joshua to buiid up a potential fight between them. There's no way they would have two seperate cards in the UK on the same day.

It also makes me think that Haye's opponent won't be that good. If it was an appealing match-up, he'd headline the card by himself.

 

Haye is trying to be 'smart' all the time, Deontay Wilder low-risk smart. Doesn't really fly well with fight fans except for the most naive ones.
