The big question here is how good Hayes chin really is. For me the jury is still out. If he can take Wlads shots then he has the tools to take care of business. Basicaly Haye has 70-80% of what it takes to be something exceptional at heavyweight. We should find out verry soon whether he has the rest.
I like both guys I guess I'll be rooting for Haye since he's a local lad. This is the first heavyweight fight I've been excited about in years.
At least it should be exciting. Just been reading a bit about your avatar, apparently he was blind in one eye when he fought Greb,Greb is supposed to have said ,if he gives me trouble I'll thumb him in the other eye ,which he did ,but Norfolk gave it to him back ,and Greb lost the sight of one eye as a result .tough times and tough boys eh?
Agree, he is a bit like Briggs who acts like a punk just to promote fights. It was kind of funny to watch him turn into a puppy when Vitali Klitschko was there. He got punched in the arm and Vitali took his cowboy hat, and he just stood and watched.
Yeah been reading a lot on Norfolk recently. Greb lost his sight in the second match apparently Norfolk headbutted Greb so hard Harry fell out of the ring.lol. That would have been something to see. Norfolk has an excellent resume I wish there was footsge of him.
Ive got a sneaky felling that haye will pull it off, i can't see this fight lasting the distance, one of them is taking the other out and wlad is a lot more passive than he was earlier in his career, haye will come out like a stream train and he has the speed to get to wlad and the power to take him out. Of course by attackin wlad in this way he himself may get taken out before he can get wlad out of there, as his defence isn't great and wlad has the skills to counter him effectively. I see it being close to 50/50 but side slightly more with haye because think he will go looking for the KO
Haye has zero experience vs a heavyweight live body, has a pours defense, and a confirmed shaky chin at the cruiserweight level. This is the indgreidents for a disaster of a night where Wlad might get zero credit for a KO that looks like a mere solid shot. I wish Haye would have to fight an elimination match to meet Wlad vs another top ten heavy, with the winner getting the shot vs Wlad. At least this way we will have a better idea of Haye was substance or sizzle. Haye has his punchers chance. Better than Rhaman did, but I think Wlad will end his one early inside of four rounds
Haye has a great shot if he hurts Klitschko. Wlad seems to panic when he gets his bell rung and Haye is must faster and a better finisher than Sam Peter. At least we'll finally see him in an exciting fight. His last few fights have been dreadful.
What gets lost in the shuffle is Wlad is not easy to catch. He has a high guard, moves his feet well, and is a skillful clincher when he want to tie his man up, or when he is hurt.
The description you gave of Haye could equally fit Wlad just as well imo, he has a shaky chin has never beaten a live body and looks gunshy when attacked. I have decided to put some cash on Haye.
He certainly has been difficult to catch for the past few years, but how much of that is due to the poor opposition? Since he fought Peter, his only two worthy opponents that deserved to be fighting for the title were Ibragimov and Brock. Neither of them were big enough punchers or aggressive enough to take advantage of Wlads weakness (Brock tried and gave an honest effort though, to be fair) Not that everyone else he's beaten in title defenses were horrible, it's just that didn't have the tools or style to come close to Wladimir. It's not Wlads fault though that Povetkin pulled out and was replaced with Rahman, and that some of his mandatory defenses were a bit iffy, you can only fight what's put in front of you and he's been dominanting them all. But in conclusion, there's no denying that Haye is the best puncher he's faced since Sanders and he will be going in trying to WIN. Wlad hasn't shown panic or anything in the last 4 years so maybe he has overcome his nerves. But we don't know that because he was never put in a hostile do or die position in the past 4 years. Chances are he WILL be tested against Haye and if Wlad goes back to his old ways, Haye will KO him. Haye throws fast enough punches from enough different angles that it's nearly a guarantee that he catches Wlad with some decent shots and it will be up to Wlad whether he survives them or panics. But like I said before, I'm picking Wlad to KO Haye...
Wlad has beaten many live body's including some un-defeated punchers. The last man to beat Wlad was Brewester, and he was never the same after taking a beating. Haye can't win that way, and outside of an ealry punchers chance, I think he's in trouble. Unlike Haye Wlad has expeirnce at heavyweight, and a much better defense. If you bet on Haye, I hope you get a least 3 to 1 odds.
