Haye should do a number on Bellew, but comments like this from Haye is looking past this fight....NEVER look past the man that's lined up in front of you.

David will use these notions of "I want Joshua, but Joshua doesn't want me", "my style is a nightmare for Joshua", etc. as a publicity platform on which to bang on infinitum to the media and to anyone else who will listen. The Bellew "fight" is just step 1 in his plan.

Would he ultimately fight AJ? Depends primarily on the money and secondarily on how he reads AJ to calculate the risk factor. But, there's a publicity gain for David either way. It's certainly not above David to exploit Joshua just to pump up the numbers on a fight between the Parker/Baby Hughie winner and him.

All of this emanates from just who David is at his core and from just how he calculates risks, rewards and his plans. With David: publicity comes first; safety comes second; money comes third; fun comes fourth; and fighting comes somewhere thereafter.

I dont believe a victory over Bellew should position Haye anywhere near a shot at Joshua (if AJ overcomes Wlad). Haye needs to fight real "live" heavyweight opposition imo to force his way into the mix...............and I am not sure he is prepared to do that! Its pushing an agenda like this that really reinforces the notion that Haye is fighting simply due to money issues as Bellew suggests.

Fast Eddie won't want him near AJ. He's not dumb. They will want Wilder after Klitchko but Wilder is running from everyone. I think Haye KOs all top HWs including Fury. I just think Wlad was and is all wrong for him size and style. Whilst Tyson is big and awkward his lack of power would mean Haye could risk get closer and KO him.

I totally agree with you but matchmaking in boxing is becoming ever more farcical, Haye-Bellew ?? Why is this fight happening from a sporting perspective ? GGG-Brook ? Khan-Ginger Mexican ??

If Haye blasts out Bellew and looks impressive wouldn't be at all surprised if he fights AJ next (providing AJ beats Wlad ofc).

Haye vs AJ would be huge. If AJ loses they have a rematch and make double the money. Why would Eddie be worried?

Haye doesn't like getting hit though so I doubt he would beat AJ. It would more likely be Haye vs Wlad II but this time he would have piles or toothache.

There's absolutely nothing to suggest Haye would beat any of the top HW's, he didn't do it in his prime so why would he be able to do it now after 5 years out?

    Deluded statement

The only way I see Haye getting a shot at Joshua soon is if he is mandatory. Hearn will go after unification fights if Joshua gets past Klitschko, even then unifications normally get put before mandatory challengers if the money is right so Haye could be waiting a long time.

And I have to add, That's assuming Joshua beats Klitschko and Haye beats Bellew. I think Joshua is in a very dangerous fight and Haye should blast Bellew away but I've written off Bellew before and he made me look a little silly, so I'm not writing him off completely, it only takes one punch to turn everything upside down.

I think Haye would be better going after Parker or H.Fury to get a title first.

So Haye didn't beat ANY of the top heavyweights 7 or 8 years ago?

Do you even remember who the top Heavies were then?

Excluding the Klits please tell us all.

They were certainly not Barrett, Ruiz or Fraudley.

I don't think it was Valuev either tbh.

The only time Valuev was considered in the top 10 at HW was in 2010 The Ring had him ranked 8th and that's only because he won the trinket belt which btw was one of the worst robberies I've ever seen. That guy should have been no where near the title which is how Haye managed to hold a belt anyway. And people criticise Joshua for his title win? LOL

    No he didn't.

His title reign was wins over Valuev (who won the belt over a 90 y/o Holyfield in one of the worst robberies I've ever seen and without this happening Haye would never have won a title in what was a weaker era than today), Ruiz and Fraudley...

Where are these top HW's he beat in his prime?

Just to show, all these fighters were ranked in the top 10 by The Ring from 2009-2012:

    Vitali Klitschko
    Alexander Povetkin
    Kubrat Pulev
    Samuel Peter
    Ruslan Chagaev
    Thomasz Adamek
    Robert Helenius
    Tyson Fury

Haye never was and still isn't a top HW. Nothing he has ever done at HW suggests this. People are holding onto his achievements at CRUISERWEIGHT where he hasn't fought for NINE years.
