'My performance wasn't that great. It was entertaining, good for the crowd,' he said. 'But technically it wasn't as good as I'd have liked because I was taking way too many shots.

He's right. Good for him in saying it. He still kicked the hell out of a very difficult guy that you rarely can look very good against.

Hes right and taking those type of shots from either Klitschko would spell doom for him.

He may have taken too many shots, but I thought his defense looked vastly improved from the last few fights.

He's got to dump that weight training programme he's been on, did'nt like the look of him at all, got to concentrate on getting the balance correct between fast/slow twitch. Get the endurence stamina up as a 100% priority or he's doomed, Spinning/Body pump over the last 4 weeks would do it.

Either Klit will walk him down & wipe him out if that end of the 4th round is anything to go by what with David sat down & sucking in air like a stranded fish. He's a breath of fresh air to Heavyweight Boxing & i see know reason why he can't pull off the big one against either Klit as long as he dumps that pumped look which needs alot of oxygen.

Yeah, even in the post-fight interview he was very honest. Seemed to indicate that he was happy that he entertained the crowd, but a bit disappointed with his actual performance due to lack of sparring. Refreshing to see him admitting flaws like that, because at least now there's the hope that he'll work to erase them. Deluded fighters always crash and burn at some point.

Haye has to improve his stamina, even if it means sacrificing a little muscle and a little power. He has to jab more, keep his hands up, and stop trying to blow everyone away. If he fought Vitali Klitschko like he did John Ruiz, he'd have been put to sleep.

At least he's being honest. I liked the fight it was better than the one he had with Valuev.

Yeh i agree between 5/6 lbs would deff suit him best, i recken he's been overdosing on creatine, looked a bit puffy & last week a bit flabby, down to water retention obviously.

I just don't get it what with this bulking up? he don't need it too such a degree. Holyfield back in 89/90 looked the part when he jumped up to heavyweight & focused on stamina/speed rather than bulk for power.

The bulking up is to strengthen his punch resistance imo.
Thicker neck + stronger legs = more punch resistance.

It's a really good sign that he can see and admit that. One of the worst things a fighter can do is to become so set in their ways that they refuse to work to improve or change. And presumably he realized what a a stinker the Valuev fight was, so he tried to go out and get the fans excited and talking about him.

For all Haye's antics, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

Nah, that would probably just slow him down, take away his speed edge that he has over a lot of heavies.
