David Haye = No-Defense, HW Version of Arthur Abraham

Defence is more than just a guard. Haye's defence involves baiting people with his hands low, and then jerking back or to the side with his upper body, away from incoming attacks, to turn that into a counter-punching opportunity. His defence is quite risky, and he's obviously nowhere near as good at it as someone like Ali or Pernell, but I wouldn't say his defensive abilities were downright bad either. He normally makes it work quite well for him, especially as it serves as such a fluid transition into his offence. (The way it sets up his trademark counter-right, for example.) I would say that Ruiz did hit him, but I don't think I'd go as far as to say that Haye is 'easy' to hit. In the first round I remember Ruiz throwing three/four punches in a row and Haye just slipping/swaying away from them all just before he knocked Ruiz down. He can be quite slippery at points.

Granted, he got hit too much in this fight, and he got sloppy at many points too. Still, he's better than you indicate, and comparing him to Abraham is just silly.

Paul is just a pure hater and a water brained joke, he did seem to fear what Haye can do to wlad.

 

Haye is like Abraham in that they both have arms.

 

nonsense, DH has a great amateur background and is a very skilled boxer. his defense is good too, he can allow to drop his hands because he is very agile in his upper body.

AA is just a stupid slugger,very stiff in his upper body and with a limited repertoire

 

The first post was confusing for physically Abraham and Haye are very different. Their attributes are different. But after explanation I see some point.

Perhaps they do have similar strategic approach to fighting. Both stay at bay and wait for an opportunity. Then spurt and if successful try to finish the opponent. They are similar in stamina department and it makes them less willing to be busy during the fight.

For a start HW David Haye is actually FASTER than middleweight AA, and fights with a completely different style based on a speed,power,movement,boxing skills combination. AA is pretty effective at what he does which is to trundle forward in the latter half of a fight trying to land bombs whilst standing almost completely stationary and not doing an awful lot in the first half
