David Haye, please tell us why you turned down the Samuel Peter fight

    On "Bunce's Boxing Hour" on Setanta, today, promoter Maloney said you turned down an offer to fight Samuel Peter. Maloney said you were offered quite a good purse, too, given your status of challenger.

    David, you read the forums, please sign up and tell us, your fans, why you declined a fight against Peter, after you said time and time again, in the clearest possible terms, that you were looking to fight the best heavyweights you could possibly fight, as soon as possible.

    How was Haye going to fight Peter with Vitali in the way? :huh It makes no sense.

    because as Rico stated peter's been set to fight vitali for a while now so when was this fight supposed to happen

    David Haye must have had a very good reason to decline such a big fight, given his stated plans at HW. Please, let us not judge him before we know the facts. David Haye has always been honest and up-front with his fans and he should be treated with the utmost respect. Thanks, everyone.

    If this is the reason, then let Haye make that known to us, in some way. What we've heard so far was that he has been calling out the whole division and he couldn't get any of them to agree to fight him. Today, though, we find out he declined this offer to fight one of the very best HWs out there. When was this offer made? Under what terms, without going into sensitive details? Why was it declined, precisely, to the extent that he can tell us?

    Maloney is totally right, especially when he pointed out about Ruiz showing heart in his last fight. There are not enough decent heavyweights out there to criticise anyone for not fighting specific names. Haye not going for Peter is the smartest choice, he can go for him later or something but in his 2nd fight I don't think it will be smart as I think Peter knocks him out and I'm a fan of both guys.

    What I am trying to do, like many here, is remain a huge David Haye fan. :good

    I'm sure David had a very good reason to turn this fight down. We all need to know, though.

    I am not a big fan because I think he cannot be hurt. I am a big fan because he gets up off the canvas and finishes the other guy off, because he fights the best when he can and does his best to fight the best, when he cannot. He lays it all on the line, giving fans the fights they want to see, time and time again. He has been great for boxing, in every possible way. You just couldn't fault him. That is why we need to know why he declined the Peter fight. David will put the record straight.
